Didn't like the voice over stuff for the first 15 minutes.

The meme stuff was blah.

Everything else predictable.

Think its great for kids, but pretty dull stuff overall.

Note: I wanted to LOVE this movie going in, I just didn't.

magic that Lord and Miller brought in Spiderverse or Lego Movie where adults end up loving it as much as their kids. But even for my kids, they enjoyed it a couple weeks ago when we watched it but they haven't brought it up again since. When they REALLY like a new movie with characters they haven't seen before, they talk about it non-stop for at least a month or so. This wasn't that.

Honestly, going in i didnt know ANY background about who was involved creatively and behind the scenes, so i had NO expectations at all (in fact we i actually started watching late, so i figured id probably doze off before the getting through it... but that DIDNT happen, it kept me up, so thats sayin somethin for it :)

that said, yeah, i agree its definitely not Spiderverse level (that movie was pretty much perfect imo)... but i found myself chuckling out loud in this one several times, and was pleasantly entertained throughout. (I do agree that it was rather 'predictable' though.)

the whole time watching it i found myself thinkin about a buddy of mine who has kids the same ages/scenarios as the kids in this movie (one about to go off to college/one stayin behind). Gonna recommend it for him and his fam. (lol My kids are LONG gone & WELL beyond this age ...in their 30s now...so yeah...those emotional points this movie was going for are relatively distant memories for me lol :)

but overall, yeah it gave me and my wife some giggles, so its a thumbs up from us.
741417, a little long but i enjoyed it mostly. the dad is a fucking prick tho

One of the best animated features in years.

I really wish this would have been a theater release.

I'd also like to see a sequel. The Mitchells warrant some exploration.

If the mediocre ass Croods got a sequel, this shit definitely deserves one.

Of note is the style itself, the narration, etc. It looks and feels different from the rest of the animated film landscape. IMO this shit was a homerun, and every bit on par with Spiderverse- it's just a different type of movie.

741472, One of my favorite animated films of the last decade.

So funny, so warm, so creative. Hits all the beats you'd expect, but it takes unexpected roads to get there. I thought this was a blast.
741473, Yep. I think they should do a summer theatrical release

I think it may be slow going at first, but I think they'd make some money off the word of mouth once it hits.

I'm having a hard time finding an animated family film I enjoyed this much.

Into The Spiderverse stands tall among any animated film, however that isn't quite the same genre IMO, in that's primarily a drama.

But this is neck and neck with ITS from a quality standpoint, and that's no surprise given they share the same filmmakers.

I'd love to see a Mitchell Trilogy, but even if they never revisit these fantastic characters, I can't wait to see what they do next.
