The more this show pivots to "what's up with GROGU" the emptier its calories get for me.

Chapter 13 was the best looking episode of this series yet but it seems pretty clear to me at this point that the title character of this show is just supposed to be a kind of viewer avatar for all this background stuff from the Skywalker story. But from the moment GROGU showed up, I hoped that'd be a couple episode arc at best. Narrative wise it's been diminishing returns for me ever since Mandalorian did the thing every character ever in this position does and goes back for the kid rather than the more interesting, unique thing and left it behind after finishing his mission.

Edit: To be totally clear though, I think Andy Greenwald put it perfectly last week in his recap when he followed a bunch of confusion and nitpicks about the show with "but the beauty of this show is I don't care, it's entertaining and I just don't care". It kinda sucks that Star Wars gave up on being a unique, actually interesting piece of television but it's also totally cool that it rejected prestige in favor of popcorn and silly Star Wars bullshit. I'm the guy that walked out of Rise of Skywalker feeling weirdly pleased because it thrashed the franchise so thoroughly it was astonishing and kind of an accidental masterpiece of trash. And now I'm fully freed from caring about Star Wars being capable of doing anything other than killing time between waking up and nodding off with stellar sound design and neat costumes.
