739019, that homelander dude is such a perfect casting.
Posted by Reeq, Sun Jul-05-20 10:45 AM
dude just emanates closet psychopath without having to oversell it.

is it me or does he look noticeably thinner?

i wonder if thats just a product of timing/shooting (maybe he was coming off another role) or if thats a part of the storyline.
739025, i think the actors only get mega buff the first time they do the role
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Mon Jul-06-20 10:47 AM
just to establish the credibility. i remember Pratt being big as fuck when he first did Starlord and the same for Evans/Captain America
739040, yes he looked a little gaunt in the face.
Posted by Nopayne, Wed Jul-08-20 10:32 PM
I thought I was just misremembering him until you mentioned it.
739020, also amazon does such a shitty job promoting their shows.
Posted by Reeq, Sun Jul-05-20 10:49 AM
the boys and zerozerozero were some of the best tv over the last year or so...and barely anyone i know has any idea they exist.

meanwhile that al pacino nazi hunter show was hot dookie and they had commercials for that everywhere.
739037, lol, STILL seeing ads for this before I watch shit on prime

739421, For better or for worse
Posted by Numba_33, Tue Sep-08-20 11:07 AM
this show is going to be stuck filming the majority of show in Canada because of COVID-19, right? I suppose that isn't the worst thing in the world if it means Season Three won't get delayed for too long.

I'll refrain from posting too much in this thread until the season ends, but it'll be interesting to see how truly deranged and amoral Stormfront is since she plays her role with a ton more comedic chops than Homelander does/did.
739422, I'm invested, but I'm not enthused
Posted by spenzalii, Tue Sep-08-20 01:49 PM
Too many threads and plots/subplots that are half baked or overdone and too many characters either underwritten or just....there. Still, I watched S1 so I have to see where S2 lands.

I do like the main storyline and seeing corporate, fascist, possibly (**spoiler redacted**) superheroes play out. I don't care about anybody on Butcher's team, which is a problem. The digs on Christianity last season and (**spoiler redacted**) this season seem hamfisted, but appropriate for the show. I hope this doesn't become the Homelander show (while he is hilariously chewing the scenery every chance he gets, it is to the detriment of everyone else).

Gus Fring is always fun to watch
739437, Gotdamn, Stormfront is an awful bitch.

739439, Yesss she was gruesome in that last ep

739443, I hated her even before the “reveal”

that's my friend from high school. She is a great lady and a wonderful actor.
739501, btw...the latest 2 eps were better than the 1st 3...and...
Posted by Voodoochilde, Sat Sep-19-20 11:00 PM
....the latest two eps 4 & 5, were much more complete & satisfying to me....too be clear i didnt hate the first 3, but the latest 2 were hittin all the right notes for me and got me FULLY re-invested in ALL of the characters again.

btw, theres an 'aftershow' 'bonus behind the scenes' show (Inside The Boys) hosted by Aisha Tyler on Amazon too... its genuinely good & fun, mainly because Aisha's the real deal, shes a perfect fit for this...shes talented, sharp as a tac, quick witted, and a genuine fan...
739516, Great set up for Season 2.5 or season 3
Posted by Castro, Thu Sep-24-20 08:18 PM
739517, What are you referring to?
Posted by Numba_33, Fri Sep-25-20 08:32 AM
I don't think the season is done yet. Hopefully the season will last the same eight episode run like the first season did.
739535, Gatdamn Cindy.

739586, A thoroughly satisfying season finale.
Posted by Numba_33, Fri Oct-09-20 11:23 AM
A nice mixture of resolved storylines and enough lose threads to keep folks like me hooked for the third season.

The nods to the original comics in terms of the fights with Stormfront were a nice bow on top of everything.

I'd love to know what she was saying in German towards the end of the episode. So wild the character playing her is Jewish.

Thanks goodness Canada is doing a much better job with COVID-19 compared to the US as filming the third season up there shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I do wonder how many seasons the show will run for though.
739587, i think i enjoyed the finale more than the entire season combined
Posted by Mynoriti, Fri Oct-09-20 11:48 AM
I liked the season enough but the finale reminded me of why i love the show.

or something like that
739679, yeah i thought it was good
Posted by mista k5, Thu Oct-22-20 12:02 PM
made me interested in another season.

there are things that bother me about the show but overall it is entertaining. there is so much bizarreness that it makes me want to see what else they do.
739589, Didn't care for the finale for the most part
Posted by navajo joe, Fri Oct-09-20 04:50 PM
Overall I enjoyed the season though and Aya Cash was a great addition to the cast.

Antony Starr continues to be incredible

Most things with The Boys themselves leave me cold and in this episode in particular. Them standing around shooting guns at supes two seasons in is just fucking stupid and encapsulates perfectly the writers not knowing how to handle how outmatched they are in a way that's actually interesting.

Also, I should have guessed they'd make the AOC surrogate the person in the shadows because y'know both sides.

Still enjoy the show overall just kind of meh on the finale
739590, haha the bullet thing drives me crazy
Posted by Mynoriti, Fri Oct-09-20 11:35 PM
Your random cop or criminal, ok, but it makes no sense for the characters who know better to keep doing this. oh maybe if 3 of us shoot it'll hurt
739592, It's literally only there to signify that they are preparing to battle
Posted by navajo joe, Sat Oct-10-20 08:36 AM
and doing something. But at this point the characters know it is useless and so do we. So it's just dumb.
739594, I assumed they use it as a stall tactic...
Posted by Vertigo, Sat Oct-10-20 11:57 PM
It's like throwing (small) rocks at a regular person... it's not going to hurt you significantly, but it's kinda annoying so it forces you to react to it....

So I always thought they shot at them to create space to execute some other plan...to buy time while other people got away, to lure them into a certain area, a diversion for someone grabbing a weapon that can actually kill them, etc.
739596, Except it doesn't even stall anyone
Posted by navajo joe, Sun Oct-11-20 08:04 AM
Didn't stall Stormfront from doing anything including breaking old girl's neck

739612, yeah...
Posted by Voodoochilde, Mon Oct-12-20 08:06 PM
...we had a ball with this show this season.

it knows what it is, revels in it, and executes it pretty much to a T. it walks the tightrope of being 'all of the things' that it 'is' SO well, and thats tough to do, but it does it.

Im voting for Karl Urban as the 'chameleon actor' of our time. Im convinced dude can play anybody and make me forget hes Karl Urban.

the WHOLE cast in this show is really really fantastic.

have you listened to
her stuff?
