738887, I May Destroy You (Michaela Coel / HBO)
Posted by Bambino Grande, Mon Jun-08-20 11:42 AM

Dug the first ep, I was on my toes the whole way cos after reading about the plot I was waiting for *it*

That made the vibe rather creepy, even if that wasn't the intention

Michaela Coel is a talent.... Looking forward to see where this goes

& Top Boy. I don't know *exactly* what to expect from this show, but I know she'll kill it.

There's a Netflix series she had that I want to watch too.

Posted by ProgressiveSound, Thu Jun-11-20 08:26 PM
First 2 episodes are up on the BBC iPlayer app then new episodes on Mondays
738968, Ep. 2 really helped clear up things about Ep.1
Posted by LeroyBumpkin, Sat Jun-20-20 11:35 AM
Now I want to go back.
Either way, I'm a fan.
Love the music and the cinematography so far.

Posted by KnowOne, Mon Jun-29-20 10:28 AM
if you know where to look on the interwebs you can find them.

I dont have HBO max so I when I went looking for eps I saw how far ahead it was.
739060, Yoooo.... i really didn’t see that shit coming
Posted by thegodcam, Tue Jul-14-20 09:39 AM
739002, watched the first 3 eps. What a show
Posted by CherNic, Mon Jun-29-20 08:32 AM
No hyperbole, showing stuff I have never seen and never thought I'd see on TV
739014, 8 eps in... whew this is good
Posted by benny, Fri Jul-03-20 01:45 PM
Really enjoying the depth of these characters and the way their interactions lead to an examination of consent in all its forms. Oh and fuck Biagio lol
739031, watched thru ep 10....honestly it could end there
Posted by CherNic, Wed Jul-08-20 09:14 AM
I don't love some of the storytelling in a couple of the later episodes but I kinda get it.
739032, still some unresolved stuff
Posted by benny, Wed Jul-08-20 09:49 AM
I guess it could be kept for a second season, but it feels like she is still piecing together what happened, especially wrt Simon

Also all the stuff with Kwame is kinda heartbreaking, major props to that actor
739033, Yeah I could see it ending here.
Posted by KnowOne, Wed Jul-08-20 11:28 AM
nm
739034, I think there are 12 eps total. I specifically meant ending at ep 10
Posted by CherNic, Wed Jul-08-20 11:58 AM
and not having 2 more episodes....am I making sense lol?
739035, Yes I was agreeing with you....
Posted by KnowOne, Wed Jul-08-20 12:46 PM
that it could have ended here. Im asumming the last two eps with wrap up his story line and possibly actually reveal what happened to her that night. Maybe.
739054, gonna need time to process this last ep
Posted by benny, Mon Jul-13-20 02:12 PM
after wasting 90mins watching the simp-ass Groundhog Day take that was Palm Springs this weekend, this was a so much more fascinating and borderline surreal version of the trope
739065, what a show....glad we got the 12 eps. + spoiler(y) question
Posted by CherNic, Wed Jul-15-20 08:20 AM
I was very confused with the last episode initially...what was real and what wasn't. Terry and Kai's situation seemed a bit rushed. But still so raw and showing the flurry of emotions and thoughts and....just life. A really really really well done show and I hope more people take notice of Coel.

spoilery question:
Episode...5? Remember when Bella is sitting at the table with the condom guy, Henny lady, and....somebody and Bella says that the condom guy raped her and NOBODY BATTED AN EYE?! Did anyone else catch that? Was supposed to be like a 'there but not really there' moment? I thought it was so strange but honestly couldn't tell if it was a real thing or just something Bella thought she did
739066, I think....

It was a Freudian slip... she was talking about the first rape, her brain connected that fact that condom guy "raped" her to so she said his name, then self corrected. If Im not mistaken condom guy looks up when she says it with a "HUH" expression.
739068, yea he had a wtf look but no one else did
Posted by CherNic, Wed Jul-15-20 11:02 AM
And he did rape her so maybe that's why he caught it and not the other two
739073, yeah but in that moment.....
Posted by KnowOne, Wed Jul-15-20 02:32 PM
I dont think he realized that what he did was rape. Clearly after she put him on blast he realized that it was rape and he was wrong.
739096, Damn this thread moved too fast. Only on Ep 6 in the U.S.

Brilliant episode. Still trying to figure out the monologue at the beginning.

Dude walking in on her in the crib was the most awkward sad thing I've seen on TV in a long time.

I was still holding out that dude was just in the shower until that passport slid out.

The brother's storyline was dope too. I don't think homegirl was wrong to feel the way she did. COuldn't help but think if they had spent more time together before he shared that with her she might take it differently.

739165, i need to rewatch this one
Posted by Damali, Mon Aug-03-20 11:37 PM
i kinda feel like the opening monologue was some kind of foreshadowing...i could be wrong..it just seemed so ominous

i thought Biagio was happy to see her..his acting was really good...i thought he would be sorry and take her in his arms..im clearly too much of a dumbass romantic lol

as the scene unfolded it was just terribly sad...the passport slide actually had a ton of compassion built into it...he wanted her to get home safe even though he wanted nothing to do with her

i'm glad it wasn't written with another woman there..damn..that was such a killer thing

i'm worried for Kwame...he's in so much pain and denial and isn't even really dealing with it the way Bella is

d
739158, this show is on my list to watch

Every character feels entirely fleshed out and the dialogue flows beautifully. Entirely too real.

I'm blown away by this show, completely. A masterpiece!
