738205, How is there no ZeroZeroZero post (Prime, 2020)?
Posted by Mgmt, Sat Mar-14-20 08:44 PM
This was fantastic from start to finish, and beautifully filmed. They spent some bread on this one.

Gomorrah fans better get on this shit.
738206, Word?

This is damn good!

That Sargent is cold-blooded evil dude.
738210, just watched the trailer. shit looks intense.

738214, 2 eps in, it's really good, better than Gomorah imho
Posted by benny, Mon Mar-16-20 07:55 AM
they focus on the structural side more than the people (even though the characters are fully developed)
738221, 2 eps in. this is fire
Posted by Mynoriti, Tue Mar-17-20 01:21 AM
Thanks for this post, man
738227, Hit me up when you get to ep 4.
Posted by JiggysMyDayJob, Tue Mar-17-20 12:13 PM
738228, finished up the season. i wonder why this is getting no promo.
Posted by Reeq, Tue Mar-17-20 01:01 PM
this shit was heavy.

amazon doesnt seem to be interested in getting people to watch it tho lol.

i had to go search for it on the site. it didnt show up on the prime video front page for me.
738231, Amazon's biggest mistake is not promoting is better shows
Posted by JiggysMyDayJob, Tue Mar-17-20 03:47 PM
I kept seeing it at the top of the screen on my Amazon Prime Video app, but I just thought it was some doc. It took boredom and this post for me actually to watch, and I'm glad I did.

I have to say it was heart-wrenching watching all that stuff happen with the Lynwood family, from the pops to Chris and even Emma's emotional journey to a certain extent. But watching Chris and everything that happened to him was just too much, I was rooting for the kid.

Manuel was eviler than the Leyras, but I had to respect the hell out of his gangster.

Stefano was the dumbest dude on earth, he was trying to be tough but didn't have it as grandpa did.

I'm going to need a season 2 in a new local or something, this would just make a great anthology series. Maybe Emma Lynwood would be the central character throughout it since she's the Brooker.
738245, a fantastic show about ultra-capitalism
Posted by benny, Thu Mar-19-20 12:26 PM
I loved that the show was laser-focused, with all these characters fighting, killing each other, while the powder just keeps moving on. And Harold Torres (Manuel) is a standout, hope to see him in more stuff.
738428, Added my reply b4 reading. Torres is a beast,

738260, thanks for the heads up. 2 episodes in so far. love it!

738265, Narcos Season 17. The Monterrey Mexico scenes are excruciating.
Posted by dgonsh, Mon Mar-23-20 09:53 AM
It is shocking how expensive this show must be. Mogwai's score is haunting as one could expect from Mogwai.

I am astounded at the location scouting of this show. It looks SO expensive. There are tonnes of frustrating plot holes that Narcos doesn't suffer from given the historical accuracy of Narcos' stories and characters (even though they also dramatize and create people for entertainments sake). Zero suffers a little from the writing but its still so captivating.

I almost can't stomach the Mexico scenes. It is unrelentingly sociopathic

Im 5 eps in btw
738270, re: plot holes - it feels a bit like they are rushing through
Posted by wrecknoble, Mon Mar-23-20 08:27 PM
the source material novel. i'm assuming this is a one-and-done kind of show? no further seasons? just curious because i feel like the character development isn't 100% there but it's still a very high caliber and intriguing show and i continue to watch it. i finished episode 6 yesterday myself.
738284, It looks insanely expensive. Can't understand why Hunters gets more
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Thu Mar-26-20 09:57 AM
promotion than this.

they were banking on the draw

but this deserved more promotion than it got.
738271, finished it. random thoughts (spoilers)
Posted by Mynoriti, Tue Mar-24-20 10:42 AM
I was more intrigued by Mexico and Italy more than all things Chris and Emma, but I enjoyed them more, the more they weaved everything together.

Emma is a goddamn G. I love how she didn't flinch in that final scene. Salud, girl.

Speaking of G shit, all things Don Minu

The location shooting already mentioned but just outstanding.

Manuel and his crew clearly modeled after Los Zetas. they also popped up under another name in the Chapo series, and I'm sure they'll be in S4 of Narcos mexico, but i love that they dove deeper into their orgins. No idea how accurately based events are being portrayed or if Manuel is based on a real person but definitely not an exaggeration of their violence level

I don't have this above Gomorrah, but that's more about how highly i regard Gomorrah than it is about this show. I don't think Gomorrah used the same flashback device, but it's been a while.

Overall just great though, thanks for the heads up mgmt.
738282, that last scene was very well done
Posted by wrecknoble, Wed Mar-25-20 08:25 PM
but i kind of left the show wanting more. i definitely feel like there was a lot of back story they could have explored. but the show was visually stunning and well-acted for the most part. great content to watch while stuck in the house these days.
738343, Leaving a season wanting more is the highest compliment.
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Thu Apr-02-20 09:39 AM
I loved how tight the storytelling was in this. Not a moment wasted. Never a lull. I rather want more than wondering when an episode is going to end.

738344, Great Corona Binge TV! Go watch this.

I just have a couple of questions:

What exactly was the transaction. Did Emma front money? 32 million was the price of the drugs or Emma's cut of it? It seems like a shit ton of drugs and 32M seems like not a lot of money for that amount of drugs.

738427, Sososo good! Baddest bad cop in tv history
Posted by calminvasion, Sat Apr-11-20 11:35 AM
Homie Harold Torres needs to blow up from this. Not sure he can do English, but regardless I want to see more from him.

I thought the siblings were the weakest part, and they were pretty damn good.
738625, solid

haven't finished the season yet but, halfway in and it's reaalllly good
738879, rewatching El Chapo. Harold Torres (Manuel) plays the same guy
Posted by Mynoriti, Sat Jun-06-20 08:34 PM
basically.

The leader of Los Zetas (by another name) in both shows.
739070, very good but not quite on the level of Gomorrah imo

spoilers

Emma was hilarious in that last scene, especially when she sits between the two brothers. Don Minu was my favorite. Besides Minu, I can't say that I loved any of the characters. I didn't love the way they did the flashbacks. Also didn't realize it was the last episode when I finished, will watch season 2. those Zetas dudes are crazy.
739104, watched the first episode last night
Posted by mista k5, Wed Jul-22-20 11:11 AM
writing is pretty meh to me. might watch another episode or two but not sure.
