Officially greenlit. Feels like we're nearing the end of the show.
736147, I hope so. Last season was a chore.

736151, definitely
Posted by BigWorm, Tue Oct-01-19 06:24 AM
I know a lot of people liked it, but I thought season 3 was stretching a premise that really should have ended at season 1.
736172, Yea it could've ended after season 1 and been perfect but
Posted by Brew, Wed Oct-02-19 08:46 AM
I was fine with season 2.

Season 3 is where they lost me.
736168, I love the characters. I was over the upside down after season 2.
Posted by Oak27, Tue Oct-01-19 08:28 PM
736316, i finally got around to watching season 3
Posted by mista k5, Mon Oct-14-19 11:30 AM
i really enjoyed it. i dont really remember season 2. i know it kind of disappointed me. i figured season 3 would be the same. it was a fun watch though.
736153, Expired...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Tue Oct-01-19 10:55 AM
..This series should've ended after season 2.

..and miles to go before i sleep...
736166, this show gets by on its nostalgic look at this point
Posted by dgonsh, Tue Oct-01-19 04:52 PM
i cannot believe they thought a shortened season mostly highlighting the mall and an ever growing monster were what people wanted from this show.

i think i hated season 3. I'm probably out on 4 unless they severely restructure what is actually compelling about the premise and characters.
736173, You nailed it. The mall and overall nostalgia is its sole strength at this point.
Posted by Brew, Wed Oct-02-19 08:46 AM
736175, I hated season 3 too
Posted by BigWorm, Wed Oct-02-19 09:43 AM
I didn't like Wynona Ryder in this. Unlike seemingly everyone else I thought the little sister was annoying. And the Never Ending Story bit almost head my eyes rolling right out of my head.

TBH the only part of the entire season that I *did* like was Hopper's big "I'LL SEE YOU IN HELL" moment.
736181, hard pass
Posted by will_5198, Wed Oct-02-19 12:56 PM
this series should only live on as separate mini-arcs with *different* sets of kids.

Posted by bwood, Fri May-27-22 09:09 PM
Jesus is thing bloated. I don't know how you binge all this in a day.
744729, these seasons are so redundant but i keep watching smh.
Posted by Reeq, Sat May-28-22 07:09 PM
i cant think of a show that has held interest this long by doing the same thing over and over.
744733, this show is the epitome of sunk cost television.
Posted by Reeq, Sat May-28-22 08:19 PM
where you get a few epsidodes in...you know how formulaic and predictable it is...you feel like bailing...but you feel obligated to finish it because you already made it this far.

theres really no good reason for these episodes to be this long. other than to manipulate those nielsen total viewing time numbers.
744734, i wrote the previous posts after the 1st few episodes lol.
Posted by Reeq, Sun May-29-22 03:12 AM
things def picked up in the next few episodes and differentiated this season from the others more.

i aint mad at this season.
744736, LOL @ this entire exchange.

*skatin' the rings of saturn*

..and miles to go before i sleep...
744742, lol this turned out to arguably be the 2nd best season imo.
Posted by Reeq, Mon May-30-22 06:47 AM
the back part of the season was pretty dope and that final episode (specifically the 11 stuff) felt like it could have been a pretty compelling standalone movie/series on its own.

no spoiler...but *that* other actor/character did an incredible job. *everything* about that was fantastic.

the russian stuff turned out to be dope as well (it was pretty tedious before).

744737, Vol. 1 is way too long.
Posted by bwood, Sun May-29-22 05:40 PM
I wasn't pulled in until Episode 6.

This shit is way too bloated.

God help me when Vol. 2 drops with a 2 and a half hour episode.
744743, this last episode would have been the perfect movie length episode.
Posted by Reeq, Mon May-30-22 06:53 AM
if they absolutely had to do that for an episode.

it had a movie feel to it already.

i cant even imagine what theyre gonna spend 2.5 hours on now. im assuming its gonna be the final fight or whatever. but everything that could possibly take place feels like it would be anti-climatic now after the performances and developments in episode 7.
744748, Definitely not worth the filler.
Posted by bwood, Mon May-30-22 11:14 AM
Like the fact that 3 of our characters are STILL in Russia, in addition to everyone still not together...

I can't believe there's still one more season after this.
744758, I definitely expected this to be the last season
Posted by mista k5, Tue May-31-22 09:42 AM
744741, Loved it. Episode 7, wow.
Posted by JFrost1117, Mon May-30-22 05:51 AM
744744, that could have been its own 11 spinoff movie or short series.
Posted by Reeq, Mon May-30-22 06:58 AM
they put their foot in that episodes ass.
744759, I really enjoyed it
Posted by mista k5, Tue May-31-22 09:45 AM
I came into it thinking I would get bored. I think what has bothered me the most is how some of these kids look super grown now lol. You can kind of believe it if they were seniors but freshmen? Not much they can do about that though.

I also don't like the roll out. It just worked out that this season came out the day after my subscription expired so I had to renew it for a month and I'm not sure I'll watch much more this month. Then the next part is a few days after this month is up. I think I'm going to cancel and renew at some point in July.
744762, Caleb and Noah really grew into themselves.
Posted by JFrost1117, Tue May-31-22 11:55 AM
MBB was super cute with the short hair and chipmunk face in S1, but the same look with her big grown face made me reel back from the screen a bit. Finn is just a weird looking kid. I don’t know if I’ll ever see Gaten as not a toothless baby.
744747, Teaser trailer for Volume 2 dropping July 1st.
Posted by bwood, Mon May-30-22 11:11 AM
https://youtu.be/J5qMfSoiuOs

Remember Volume 2 is only 2 episodes because:

Chapter Eight: Papa is an hour and 25 minutes

Chapter Nine: The Piggyback is 2 hours and 30 minutes.

That's right, two and a half hours.
744749, So many threads to tie up. I’m ready though.
Posted by JFrost1117, Mon May-30-22 08:12 PM
744760, 2 1/2 hrs is kind of wild
Posted by mista k5, Tue May-31-22 09:47 AM
I guess volume 2 in total is 4 hours which I'm sure many people binge often enough.
745091, i love when you go to youtube to look up a song.
Posted by Reeq, Fri Jul-01-22 06:41 AM
and all the people in the comments came there for the same reason you did.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LatorN4P9aA
745093, Definitely too long.
Posted by bwood, Fri Jul-01-22 02:59 PM
This felt like an overlong setup for the fifth and final season.

The last 30 minutes the closest I came to liking this show since season 2.

These characters are definitely fucked for next season with this cliffhanger.
745094, Pretty good season
Posted by go mack, Sat Jul-02-22 08:24 AM
Not sure why they decided on the extra long episodes, easily could have split them up better into 12 or 13 episodes or cut out some filler. Still probably the best season since 1 tho.
745097, Yeah, I agree with all this. Best season since season 1
Posted by calij81, Sun Jul-03-22 03:20 AM
I can’t wait to see how they resolve it all in season 5.
745098, I loved about 85% of this season
Posted by CaptNish, Sun Jul-03-22 12:57 PM
But honestly, even in the finale, every time they left Hawkins, it felt like a chore. Four characters were literally left in the finale helping El set up a Zoom call and then watching her in the bath. And that Russia shit went on for way too long. But other than that, I agree with everyone that this was probably the most solid the show has been since se1.

That said…. Of alllllllll the fifty million characters of the cast of this show, why Eddie gotta be the one that got got!?

Expect my “Why Eddie? Why Not Argyle?” shirts to be on sale by the end of the day…
745109, Honestly unsure what's gonna happen next.
Posted by spades, Tue Jul-05-22 03:09 PM
but I'm here for the ride. This was the best season in a LONG while.
