One last ride for Craig, Jeffrey Wright is back, and hey, a Wentz cameo.

Trailer looks good, but so did Spectre, and we know how that turned out.
737078, I skipped the last...couple? this one the trailer at least looks good
Posted by Rjcc, Wed Dec-04-19 03:59 PM

www.engadgethd.com - the other stuff i'm looking at
737079, I hope it's good but anything related to Spectre rubs me the wrong way
Posted by navajo joe, Wed Dec-04-19 04:25 PM
Lea Seydoux is has 0 screen presence and her and Craig have precisely 0 chemistry

I'm team Fukunuga but the Craig run, outside of Casino Royale does nothing for me
737080, Every other one has been good.
Posted by WarriorPoet415, Wed Dec-04-19 05:04 PM
Casino Royale - dope.
Quantum of Garbage - name speaks for itself.
Skyfall - dope.
Spectre - gah baj
No Time to Die - hopefully follows the formula and sends Craig out on a good note.

but.....

737081, Quantum was just boring, which is probably a worse sin. Spectre?
Posted by spenzalii, Wed Dec-04-19 05:19 PM
After the opening scene (between the opening long take on the Day of the Dead celebration and barrel rolling a helicopter, straight flames) it goes downhill quick and stays there.

My biggest gripe was trying to tie Skyfall in the arc. That one felt like its own stand alone movie and character motivations. Casino and Quantum were part 1 and part 2, and you get the idea of Spectre from the opera scene. But there really wasn't anything in Skyfall that tied to the other movies, so when Bloefeld shows up like he was always pulling the strings it didn't work. It's a shame as I do like Waltz in the role, but the movie was just a mess.
737086, my biggest gripe was the bs family connection of Bond-Blofeld

737082, Skyfall is ok
Posted by navajo joe, Wed Dec-04-19 05:51 PM
It's vastly better than QOS and Spectre but it doesn't hold up well to repeat viewings

I really hope they close out strong because Craig is my favorite Bond and he deserves a solid capper to his run
737084, bruh, Skyfall is goat

737085, even tho its Dark Night007 I agree its up there

I hope she was given reign to imbue the script w/ her intelligence and storytelling sensibilities as well as her humor.
737091, it would be dope if they killed off james bond in one of these movies.
Posted by Soldado, Thu Dec-05-19 09:06 AM
nobody would see it coming.

it would also give them no choice but to move on to a different character.
737104, Lol y do they need to move on to a diff character
Posted by Heinz, Thu Dec-05-19 07:55 PM
It's not some grand universe like Star Wars, MCU etc. Nobody watches Bond to be surprised. Never get these suggestions. If you want new characters in the same type of movie make a new character and world. Should we kill superman, batman, the guys from Bad Boys, Elf, Friends because nobody would see it coming? Lol

However whoever they choose as the next Bond has big shoes to follow. Craig has been perfect.

Craig is fine as Bond and you really just watch these for big format imagery and interesting premise that isn't so dumb it's distracting.
737906, Billie Ellish is singing the theme song.

737910, I imagine Idris in that trailer and I'm annoyed

Sam Smith’s song was good, starting off, and then he screwed it up after switching to that horrible falsetto. The instrumental is far better.

I liked Billie’s “No Time To Die”

30 minutes has been shot in IMAX 70mm.

Here's a list of theaters worldwide to get the most out of the 1.43 aspect ratio:

Makes sense, considering how much the Asian market is going to figure into the film's success, and how movie theaters are closed in places like China.
738132, Im kind of glad as Im avoiding theaters now my damn self.

742260, I have to rewatch Spectre.

I fell asleep in the theater and have fallen asleep on it watching at home.
742278, First half: very good. Second half: inexplicable mess.
Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Oct-07-21 11:32 PM
First half: some cracking action, gorgeous cinematography, good henchmen, real fun, and holy shit, Ana De Armas kicks some serious ass.

But once Rami Malek comes into the picture full time, we get lots of speeches about "the past" and "we're the same, you and I" (material far better trod in the previous two movies), we get Malek doing his whole very mannered thing, and we get, worst of all, a completely inexplicable plan. I'll cover this in some moderate spoilers at the bottom of this post in very clearly labeled fashion... but this movie screams "redone on the fly." As a result of everything getting so messy, the stakes, which they attempt to ratchet up big time, just... don't really play. And all of this makes Malek pretty easily the worst of the Craig Bond villains... and probably one of the worst in some time beyond that.

So the final act is mostly free of suspense-- save for one really terrific oner action sequence-- and the impact of the very end just doesn't hit nearly as effectively as it should. I haven't rewatched Spectre in a while (going to do so this weekend)... but this may be my least favorite of the Craig Bonds. Which is a shame, considering the first half is really good.

*** SOME SPOILERS ***

I can't for the the life of me figure out Malek's plot. So okay, at first, it's revenge against Spectre, it's nanobots targeting DNA, cool, I'm with it... but then he's got an island where he's growing poison and he's got a lake filled with acid or something but he's still doing the nanobot plot only now it's against huge chunks of the world for some reason and I've absolutely no clue what his deal is or how it's working. Is he still making nanobots? James wants to blow up the island-- will that prevent nanobots from getting in the water? If it's even nanobots? Or if it's poison, isn't putting that in the ocean bad? Wouldn't the stuff targeting people's DNA just be in the water now? Or, if that needs to be activated or whatever like it was before, can't they just blow up the computer and not the island? And he kidnaps Madeline for some reason, maybe he's obsessed with her or something... but then he lets her go pretty easily? And lets the kid go INSANELY easily?

Like, I hate to be The Guy Who Needs To Know How It Works, because normally I don't give a shit, but there's just sooooooooo little explanation. So at the end of the day, it's not like Bardem or even Waltz where it's so clearly a specific character. He's just kind of Rami Malek, Guy With Poison Or Something Who Gets His Revenge But Then Also Wants To Kill A Shitload of Other People Maybe.

Also, the complete removal of Ana De Armas after the Cuba sequence is such an absolute waste-- and definitely does *not* seem like it was planned to be an early exit. They give this enticing bit at the end of that sequence, where it's clear she's undersold her experience, and we don't know why, so she's kind of mysterious and sexy and interesting... and then WE NEVER SEE HER AGAIN. Huh?? Why tease something interesting about a character if you're just going to ditch her? Much like the finale in general, that feels like a post-production choice. Maybe there's more of her that got cut out. No clue.

So yeah, lots of mess in this movie. Just all over the place. Rather disappointing. But the first half? Pretty righteous. Probably worth the ticket for that alone. Just brace yourself once Malek comes in for a lot of exposition, repetition, and inexplicable plot.
742282, Do you think Rami Malek is a good actor?
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Fri Oct-08-21 12:20 PM
I thought he was amazing in The Pacific, at the time. Years later i realize he was just doing his "weird" thing he does all the time now. He was awful in The Little Things and seems out of place in this. I didn't get the hype for his performance in Bohemian Rhapsody. I should prolly check out Mr Robot
742285, He's great in Mr. Robot.
Posted by Frank Longo, Fri Oct-08-21 08:10 PM
It's honestly not his fault. His character has motivations that shift randomly, and his plan makes no goddamn sense. He also wants to kidnap until, on an absolute whim, he just doesn't.

I agree that he was INCREDIBLY miscast in The Little Things. And he wasn't good in Bohemian Rhapsody. But he's definitely a talent. He just needs better, meatier roles in projects that are actually good. (But I also don't blame him for just cashing in.)
742310, drop everything youre watching and binge Mr Robot
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Wed Oct-13-21 11:38 PM
that show and his performances in it are up there w/ the GOATs
742444, Will do
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Tue Oct-26-21 12:01 PM
742293, Well, this is definitely Craig's last Bond
Posted by spenzalii, Mon Oct-11-21 10:11 PM
Gotta agree with Frank. Looked beautiful, 1st 1/2 was cracking. 2nd 1/2? I was confused and unhappy. I simply cannot figure out Mr. Robot's plan or why his hired help was still around. There are a few things I absolutely hated (and can discuss later). But, what's done is done. Where we go from here, who knows.

Maybe they keep these 5 as their own thing, much like Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy

742309, put Bond on ice for a decade. maybe forever

cause this shit is washed
742462, This was beautiful and a GREAT movie. Wtf are you guys talking about
Posted by Heinz, Wed Oct-27-21 10:46 AM
Thoroughly enjoyed this. It definitely is long but I didn't find it to drag at all.

If you are upset with the plot or even nanobots shit then you have far to high expectations for what happens in Bond movies. It's like people who complain about Star Wars dialogue like thats why people watch it for.
743356, So the actor playing the main villain is only 40
Posted by herbiehowsermc, Sat Jan-15-22 01:28 PM
Rami Malek is 40 and is only 4 years older than the female lead, Léa Seydoux who is 36 years old. So in the story, when she was about 11 or so he killer her mother. How old was he supposed to be here, 16? I'm very confused by the casting choice and decision for the villain here.
