I don't watch enough shitty soap opera-y TV and this was pretty good for that. The eye makeup was maybe the most over the top thing about the show by the end of it, though I did find it heartening that on its surface the show confirmed a lot of my worst fears about the generation below my younger sister's, so a bunch of journalists got together and put out articles confirming the kids these days are NOT getting as fucked up as this show suggests.

I think the series hit its apex during the carnival episode and immediate fallout from that, but it started backsliding when Nate went from a clever bad dude to a legitimate supervillain. Props to him for whatever he drew from in that last scene with his dad, though, that was horrifying. His whole family might be fucked up on a show that's otherwise pretty grounded but the acting is keeping it together for me.
