This is a better choice than I could’ve hoped for. Anyone who only associates Pattinson with the Twilight movies needs to check out his awesome indie work since— he’s a terrific actor.
734978, He's having a good year
Posted by bwood, Thu May-16-19 08:23 PM
Starting in the new Claire Denis film.

Co-starring in the new Nolan.

And now this?

I ain't mad.
734990, he is so good in that btw

735022, he's also getting raves for The Lighthouse at Cannes
Posted by The Analyst, Tue May-21-19 09:19 AM
with Willem Dafoe, directed by the guy who made The VVitch. (This one shot in square format B&W film...)
734999, Anyone who only associates him with Twilight?
Posted by Mgmt, Sun May-19-19 07:33 AM
That would be the entire world.

Been dragged to a Twilight movie before. Not interested in familiarizing myself with this guy.

It's been clear for a long time now that dude can really act.
735038, He prolly could

My point stands. Twilight guy.
735046, yeah, and Ledger was "A Knight's Tale" guy
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed May-22-19 08:58 AM
*shrug*

My point is taking the best actors for the part >>> taking actors based on their biggest previous part.
735174, I watched “Good Time” and I liked it

735042, thats a soft ass batman. im surprised yall like this pick.

735047, You want The Rock? geezus yall..its 'acting'
Posted by rdhull, Wed May-22-19 09:50 AM
All actors are 'soft'
735054, i have no idea why you went straight to the rock lol.
Posted by Reeq, Wed May-22-19 04:05 PM
theres a lot of room in between them.
735061, lol guess cause it seems u feel Pat is the other soft side extreme
Posted by rdhull, Wed May-22-19 08:10 PM

735050, You feel the same when "Mr. Mom" was picked for Batman?
Posted by Innocent Criminal, Wed May-22-19 12:20 PM
735053, did you actually watch mr mom?
Posted by Reeq, Wed May-22-19 04:00 PM
you realize why him doing 'woman things' was funny right?
735056, lmao
Posted by PG, Wed May-22-19 06:14 PM
I swear... not a half hour ago I was pondering walter mondale after dipping into the avenetti poast in gd and now I'm here reading this

oh the 80s lmao...
735092, Nobody watched Mr. Mom and said he should be Batman
Posted by Innocent Criminal, Sat May-25-19 09:51 PM
When he was announced as Batman nobody was thrilled about the choice. How old are you? WB got lit up for that announcement.
735093, people were worried about the movie being comedic/campy.
Posted by Reeq, Sun May-26-19 12:19 AM
partly because he was a comedic actor but mostly because him and tim burton were pairing up again after beetlejuice. also a lot of them didnt think he was handsome enough to be bruce wayne.

people have issues with every batman pick. but being too soft isnt usually one of them.
735055, put me in the dude from twilight lane
Posted by mista k5, Wed May-22-19 04:55 PM
with that said most batman choices have been weird. sometimes they work sometimes they wont. ill let a trailer come out before forming on a opinion on dude playing batman.

im more worried about the writing/plot. get that right!
735057, not a popular opinion but I'm inclined to agree
Posted by PG, Wed May-22-19 06:16 PM
> he’s a terrific actor.

735064, this is actually not an unpopular opinion at all...
Posted by The Analyst, Thu May-23-19 09:26 AM
not among "serious" movie heads, at least
735062, unpopular opinion: he can't be worse than Christian Bale
Posted by BigWorm, Thu May-23-19 06:37 AM
I think Christian Bale is a terrific actor. But as Batman? Well for one as Bruce Wayne had had no swagger at all, I thought he just played it flat.

And as Batman, I couldn't take that goofy ass voice seriously.

If Pattinson can play an interesting Bruce Wayne, and then not sound like the angry Cookie Monster as Batman, he'll do fine.
735169, RE: unpopular opinion: he can't be worse than Christian Bale
Posted by Eric B Is Prez, Fri Jun-07-19 05:09 PM
Yeah his Batman voice was so stupid. I don’t understand why nobody pointed that out early in production.
735259, So, thinking about it, this annoys me.
Posted by CaptNish, Wed Jun-19-19 09:36 AM
Not because it's Pattinson, but because it's a British dude. Again. I don't know *why* that annoys me so much.... but y'all got James Bond.... stop taking our American jobs! lol

735260, You know that Christian Bale is from the UK, right?
Posted by BigWorm, Wed Jun-19-19 10:01 AM
735264, hence the use of the word "again".

735265, I missed that. I stand corrected, fam
Posted by BigWorm, Thu Jun-20-19 06:48 AM
I guess I disagreed with the comment because I don't see Batman as such an iconic American actor. It's not like British actors were being casted over and over as Captain America. And comparing it to James Bond is off since most people's favorite Bond actor is Sean Connery, a Scottish actor.

But I should have lead with that.

738147, The look of the car - one that's based around a street car is interesting
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Thu Mar-05-20 07:32 PM
Wonder if that choice is an indicator of the tone of the story.

But the 3rd brake light near the roof of the car is hilarious to me. Like Bruce is designing the car and is like, "I need this to pass inspection so let me put this brake light on top." Ha!

742342, "what have you done?"
Posted by Ashy Achilles, Mon Oct-18-21 08:57 AM
had to turn on the captions
742346, The trailer was beyond stellar
Posted by Numba_33, Mon Oct-18-21 11:29 AM
but I had to do the same exact thing you did to figure out that specific piece of dialog, but I'm concerned inaudible dialog might be an issue overall since closed captions aren't available in theaters.

Perhaps I'll just wait for this to drop on bluray to avoid this issue, plus to avoid any potential COVID concerns with going into a NYC movie theate.
742383, it does look amazing
Posted by Ashy Achilles, Thu Oct-21-21 01:24 PM
i'm not still comfortable spending 2 hours in a theater
742343, helluva trailer.
Posted by spades, Mon Oct-18-21 09:26 AM
and I feel a little better about this pics depiction of Batman, but I still have some concerns about the direction. Also, I gotta say, Bruce Wayne is supposed to be this handsome, slick socialite. They actually appear to have tried to my R Pats ugly in this.

Interesting choice....

We'll see.

742365, Reeves is a really good director. My one complaint…
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Oct-20-21 01:47 AM
… is that the Riddler question mark latte is goofy as shit, lmao.

Then again, if they find the right balance between violent and goofy, this could be an all-timer.

742381, Does CatWoman not wear a mask at all in the movie?
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Thu Oct-21-21 09:45 AM
I dont know enough of the history to know if that is part of her origin story. All the other films she rocks it from the get go.
742460, RE: Does CatWoman not wear a mask at all in the movie?
Posted by JFrost1117, Wed Oct-27-21 09:49 AM
I think she had a ski mask with lil ear nubs in the first trailer.
742531, RE: Does CatWoman not wear a mask at all in the movie?

>I dont know enough of the history to know if that is part of

Sometimes in the old TV show, she didn't have a mask (Julie Newmarr & Eartha Kitt versions) and sometimes she did...n and in the comics/graphic novels, sometimes she just rocks a pair of goggles and cat ears instead of an actual mask.
742549, They’re playing the trailer before Eternals.
Posted by JFrost1117, Fri Nov-05-21 12:33 AM
I’ve only been watching this on repeat on my phone and iPad. Seeing it on the screen got me super hyped.
742369, is there a chance this gets moved up?
Posted by Tiger Woods, Wed Oct-20-21 11:29 AM
Shang Chi , Vemom, and Halloween 2 raked, and you know Spider-Man is gonna do silly numbers too. It also sounds like this is finished, as many critic/blog type people are reporting they've seen it.
742422, despite his shortcomings, i always thought ben affleck
Posted by beeinfinite, Mon Oct-25-21 09:19 AM
was the best batman in terms of appearance. looked like a splitting image to the comic book version imo.

742423, me too, and frankly I didn't think his shortcomings were all that.
Posted by spades, Mon Oct-25-21 09:38 AM
I felt he played a very realistic aging batman.
742429, i have to say i pretty much agree with you fully

742541, Definitely. Most accurate Batman
Posted by Stadiq, Thu Nov-04-21 04:45 PM

By far.

This new one looks amazing, but I still scratch my head at how much different a Batman in his 2nd year or whatever will be than one in his first? Is it just cause they won't show his parents get capped? What's the difference otherwise?

Wish they would have just kept Afleck. His portrayal + an aged, boozing, brutal, even more cynical, etc Batman would have been cool to see for a while.

Wish he and Reeves could have worked something out.

742461, Agreed he just had shitty movies
Posted by Heinz, Wed Oct-27-21 10:45 AM
BUT...Pattinson looks like he's going to take the reign of the best Batman even as a younger emo lost version of him. These trailers and artwork look amazing so far.

742465, Emo Batman sounds like Slow Flash
Posted by spades, Wed Oct-27-21 12:00 PM

A lot of the trailers are the same cuts in a different order. The way time is going, it's gonna be March hella quick. Or April, if theaters are shut down and you have to wait for the MAX release.
743196, the budget for this thing is only $100 mil.
Posted by Reeq, Fri Dec-31-21 07:01 PM
even if its relatively story heavy (compared to past batman flicks or even any super hero flicks)...that still seems pretty remarkable.
743439, baseless hunch: we find out Thomas Wayne was an asshole
Posted by Tiger Woods, Wed Jan-26-22 10:15 AM
these trailers imply there's some type of secret we're going to learn. I'm probably reading into them too much and am just way too excited for this movie. But it would make sense that after so many on-screen iterations of this character we get a new layer we hadn't learned before. We'll see.
743448, he already was in Joker

Bruce stays finding out that Thomas collab’d with the mob to get things done in the city.
743504, Yeah that was the Telltale series
Posted by Nodima, Fri Feb-04-22 01:45 PM
Cobblepot comes back in town and basically fucks up Bruce's entire understanding of his world.

The sequel also sounded cool since Batman can either make or break the Joker essentially based on how you play the game but I never got around to it. They did some pretty unique stuff with the lore though.
