i was tryna keep somewhat of an open mind about this.
the tech angle pretty much confirms this is gonna be wack. theyre unnecessarily over-thinking/modernizing this. we dont need apps and drones and taking control of every device/appliance within range (this isnt black mirror, transcendence, etc). just give us the doll.

i think the general 80's-ness of the OG movie is what made it good in the first place. this looks too polished, doesn't have that grit. same reason the thing remake flopped

it was based specifically on the popular 'my buddy' doll (wherever i go...heeee gooooes...lol). part of what made it relevant was that it almost literally hit home for a lot of parents/kids. it wasnt just a standard killer doll flick.
do kids even play with dolls anymore?
it seems like the best chance of success for this was to play on the nostalgia but it doesnt look like thats what theyre going for.

My Buddy worked for boys and girls. Later they did introduce Kid Sister. But girls already were playing with My Buddy. We also had My Pet Monster and Teddy Ruxpin which wasnt the same but still a doll. Now girls have American Doll and Barbie. But nothing out there for boys.
