Dozens of people crying and sobbing loudly in my theater while

I can't stop laughing at your post. That's wild fucked up.
732822, Disney is gonna get so much credit once everyone realizes...

...that they’re killing off all of the legacy white male characters and installing T’Challa (black), Captain Marvel (female), and Spider-Man (an anxiety case) as the faces of the franchise. Even though they probably arrived here by accident and the movies really aren’t that deep.
732834, First: MCU Spider-Man isn't an "anxiety case", at all
Posted by kevlar skully, Sat Dec-08-18 09:32 PM
He's probably the most happy go lucky version of the character in any featured continuity across any medium including tv/films, video-games, and comics.

Second: It's probably best to count the featured non-white male characters when they are actually featured. We can assume BP and CM will be heavily featured going forward but "Disney" isn't "killing off all the legacy white male and characters"; the contracts have run out for the overwhelmingly white male characters Marvel Studios featured in their films and either aren't worth renewing due to cost or the actors would like to do other things.

No reason to give them credit for something that we don't even know is about to happen, especially for reasons that aren't even intended.

As of now, due to Ike Perlmutter being regulated to controlling Marvel TV and Kevin Feige has been promoted to Marvel Studios president; Marvel Studios is featuring characters from more diverse backgrounds and they deserve some credit for that, definitely. But let's not pretend they are killing off all the white males on purpose or that the white males they will still feature don't count for completely made up and silly reasons

Holla when the X-Men films star a woman of color instead of multiple handsome white dudes assuming the story of minority struggles
732837, Didn’t work so well when they did it in the actual comics

Spider man as a minority is a hell of a stretch man
732853, I'm not sure Reed Richards could stretch that far

>...that they’re killing off all of the legacy white male
>characters and installing T’Challa (black), Captain Marvel
>(female)

Yes. Kudos to them for making these choices, but let's not get carried away.

>and Spider-Man (an anxiety case)

Huh? An anxiety case? That's the big minority appeal here?

No. First, they hit a home run with Tom Holland. That kid is the best version of Peter Parker we've ever seen in a movie. Hands down.

And he's an excellent character to build on going forward. Zero qualms about that.

But you cannot include him as an example of progressive choices. You cannot, particularly when Miles was right there for the taking, and they rolled with the classic. A classic, which, by the way, fucking nailed it.

But that doesn't make it a progressive choice, and "anxiety case" is an awfully forced attempt to cram him into the conversation with T'Challa and Danvers.
732824, Doesn't even need to be another trailer
Posted by spenzalii, Fri Dec-07-18 12:24 PM
Love the restrained take. Like seeing Clint back. Thanos using the armor as a scarecrow. I mean, just take all the money in April. Everyone will be there. If this is Tony and Steve's last stand so be it.

I already miss Cap's beard, I must say...

They could even do a retcon and direct a new version of Age of Ultron and I’d see that too. Yay for the Russos.

So fucking good
733451, lol at these trailers
Posted by BigWorm, Mon Feb-04-19 03:44 PM
Kevin Feige is so confident that this movie is going to break box office records and rake in billions that he's giving us trailers that show barely anything, and might not even be in the actual film.

It's like making a trailer out of just the conversations in a John Wick film.

The thing is, though, he is not wrong.

733453, They're teaser trailers.

Unlike the Infinity War trailers, they are still giving us very little.

They are clearly holding on to the best action sequences. Are they fighting Thanos again, or just trying to reverse the Snap? We don't know. Is Thanos even the main antagonist here? We don't know. Time travel or alternate universe?

Feige & Co. seemed to really seemed to nail the formula for n exciting trailer that doesn't spoil the movie in any way.
733993, yeah, that was a really smart trailer
Posted by Nodima, Thu Mar-14-19 02:06 PM
biggest reveals were a haircut and a new fit, most of the footage was from past movies.

kind of trailer you can only really do with a franchise as big as this one is but still, A+.

Give nothing away about the plot, don't spoil the action, and still get you hype as fuck!
734027, Minor spoiler in the trailer. Avoid if you hate spoilers
Posted by spirit, Fri Mar-15-19 11:06 PM
Tony’s fate was wholly in question in the first trailer. This trailer spoils that outcome if you watch Closely enough.

Don't forget that they alter the trailers to throw people off as well.
734042, when was the last time y'all were so hyped for a movie?
Posted by BigWorm, Mon Mar-18-19 10:30 AM
For real I haven't been this excited for a movie since I was a kid.

I was nervous about Infinity War because I couldn't see how they could work so many characters into one movie. But they knocked it out the park.

Now I'm wondering if they can work up to an ending that really sticks the landing, give the vet heroes a satisfying end to their story arc, and above stick the landing at the end.

I keep thinking of the Kill Bill movies. I grew liked both parts, but after the intensity of Park 1, I was initially disappointed the Part 2 was dramatically toned down, with Tarantino moving away from his love of martial arts movies and going back to talky business as usual.

The scene in Infinity War where Thor and Rocket show up in Wakanda to whoop everyone's ass? That was one of the most thrilling action sequences I've seen. I hope the Russo Brothers bring it like that in Endgame.

I ended up with a free pair for Friday night at 8pm (had an Atom tickets account with 2 free tickets) and paid for a pair on Thursday night at 6pm.

Gonna see if I can get the Friday ones cancelled and applied to the Thursday one. If not, I'll probably just see it Friday.
734236, Yeah I did that
Posted by handle, Tue Apr-02-19 11:56 PM
>Gonna see if I can get the Friday ones cancelled and applied
>to the Thursday one. If not, I'll probably just see it
>Friday.

I cancelled both orders and re-ordered for Thursday at 6pm with the free tickets.

So I'm all set. 2 seats and just me going, opening night, Dolby Cinema. Time to spread out and enjoy.
734225, Seeing it Thursday at 6 and again Friday morning...

I said I wouldn't watch any more trailers after the last one.

But I couldn't resist clicking onto this one.

I almost think it gave away too much.

I swear if they release another trailer I will dodge that shit like Neo in the Matrix.

734220, That closing shot before the title.
Posted by Cold Truth, Tue Apr-02-19 09:17 AM
It's basically the culmination of the genre.
734221, Someone should cut a trailer in chronological order using...
Posted by Melanism, Tue Apr-02-19 10:09 AM
...Black Widow's hair color and length as a guide.

Based on what we've seen, I'm guessing:
- Shortly after The Snap, the surviving Avengers and Captain Marvel go after Thanos in the first 30 minutes of the film. Either they defeat him or lose but regardless, the Gauntlet is too damaged to undo everything.

-Time jump, Scott escapes the Quantum Realm. Tell the Avengers they could go back in time and that's what the suits are for.

734223, yup....
Posted by KnowOne, Tue Apr-02-19 11:07 AM
looks like they go after him early and catch an L. Then have to use time travel to fix it all.
734235, Regular format Thursday, IMAX on Saturday
Posted by spenzalii, Tue Apr-02-19 11:47 PM
Couldn't even find a 'LiMAX' showing on Thursday night, so I grabbed whatever ticket I could find at my local theater for the 10:00 (can't take off work so a 6:00 on Thursday or 8:00 am Friday wasn't gong to work). The Airbus IMAX theater is about an hour from my house, so making the trip on Saturday to see it in a true IMAX theater makes sense. Plus I can get to the museum early enough and take a picture next to the Enola Gay to kill time.

Not looking at any of the new trailers. This should be epic
734278, IMAX 3D, April 25th, midnight screening

734279, and anyone else up on this Ant-Man in Thanos' butt meme? lol
Posted by araQual, Fri Apr-05-19 07:09 AM
it's all i see on the gram anymore.
even the Russos changed their IG profile pic to acknowledge it lol.

basically someone theorised Ant-Man can shrink up into Thanos' ass, expand and kill him.

734343, it's hilarious, but wouldn't work
Posted by BigWorm, Fri Apr-12-19 06:40 AM
I know, I know, I feel like a chump even putting ten seconds of thought into this.

But Thanos has near God-like powers with the Infinity Stones/Gems. Even if Ant Man were ant-sized, Thanos would notice him well before dude got anywhere near his ass, even if Ant Man were riding a fly at the time. And without blinking an eye he would turn Ant Man to dust.

I mean, dude body slammed THE HULK with only one Infinity stone. There's no way that Ant Man would be able to get close to him.
734344, FYI, there are not one but TWO new trailers out
Posted by BigWorm, Fri Apr-12-19 06:44 AM
One focuses on Captain Marvel, the other is the Avengers all in their new suits coming together for a huddle or whatever like it's time for the Superbowl.

I only caught glimpses of both trailers, didn't watch them in entirely because fuck that. I've seen enough until April 26th. But y'all go hit up Youtube if you're feeling it.
734358, Ant-Man would turn to goo
Posted by jrocc, Fri Apr-12-19 02:02 PM
even before this current meme there was one where Ant-Man supposedly crawled into Thanos' ear and expanded and blew up his head. Thanos is powerful on a ridiculous level even without any of the stones. no way Ant-Man would be durable enough to do any damage to Thanos. let's not even talk about getting close to him undetected.
734341, So we going to see any post-"snap" characters?
Posted by quikfit, Thu Apr-11-19 10:58 PM
All the press run of course is just the ones that survived "the snap".
Do we seriously think we're not getting everyone? Those that went to dust are really gone?
What's the consensus?
I never go to Marvel flicks in the first few weeks as I dislike packed theatres, but breaking that for this one. Really want to see what they're going to pull off!
734342, Of course they'll all be there
Posted by mrhood75, Fri Apr-12-19 02:59 AM
They're working on the new Spider-Man movie. There's a new Black Panther film scheduled. Disney just announced the Vision/Scarlett Witch and the Falcon/Winter Soldier series for their streaming service, coming in November. They're playing it close to the vest, but they'll all be in the film.
734372, based on the narrative and the marketing? definitely
Posted by araQual, Sun Apr-14-19 04:13 AM
the marketing features all of the MCU characters on the one poster for the international versions of Endgame promotional material. plus everyone already sussed they were gonna use the quantum realm and/or wield the stones themselves to reverse the snap (they even mentioned it specifically in one of the more recent trailers).

that stuff all seems rather obvious and they haven't really hidden it, what i'm worried about is what's *actually* gonna happen instead lol. RDJ keeps insisting we'll never guess the outcome, so i'm bettin that they're puttin the fan-guessed and obvious stuff in the trailers so they can save the actual twist stuff for the theater.

it definitely won't be a downer ending like IW, tho...right?
