this is why you take your time building a "universe". Damn I'm so pumped for this

Doc Strange giving Starlord the assist?
That ill suit Spidey was rocking?
"i got soups on deck" Cap?
BLACK PANTHER?!

Stark is def not making it out of this one alive.
723671, I think the Stark/Peter bond is a setup to pass the torch
Posted by Tiger Woods, Tue Jul-25-17 12:28 PM
Spider-man will make that kid a star for the rest of his life, so symbolically Downey is handing the Marvel keys over to him. Likewise, Spider-Man fits right in if Iron Man leaves too. I've begun to think the relationship we've seen grown between Stark and Peter is a setup for Stark eventually dying to save Peter, or at least Stark dying.
723676, Homecoming sequel will be the next joint after Avengers 4
Posted by Madvillain 626, Tue Jul-25-17 05:03 PM
So I imagine it deals with the fallout of Infinity War and Spidey coming to terms with Stark's death.
723679, This definitely makes sense in theory, but is the Marvel/Sony
Posted by soulfunk, Tue Jul-25-17 06:23 PM
deal for the rights to Spidey solid enough for Marvel to bank on Spidey anchoring that next generation of the MCU?
723607, Fuck man, can we just fast forward to May?

i'm upset at how long i have to wait for black panther but i haven't even seen spiderman and we got thor in between them.

i do feel for that ant-man movie, it's gonna be a big let down after all that unless they got something special under wraps with that one.
723669, CAN. NOT. WAIT.

723733, If I were at Marvel and petty, I'd drop the trailer the night JL is released
Posted by spenzalii, Thu Jul-27-17 01:20 PM
Marvel will be riding high off Thor, which will likely have a Black Panther trailer to go with it. Slide the official Infinity War trailer on YouTube when Justice League opens, just to remind people of what they have to look forward to,l and it would be a wrap

Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Wed Nov-29-17 12:10 PM
Not sure why its bothering me so much because the rest of the trailer looks amazing.

The sleeveless uniform and Thanos without the helmet looks awful. I hate this idea that you have to see the actors faces so the characters spend all this time without their regular get-up on.
726131, its the CG thats killing me
Posted by hardware, Wed Nov-29-17 01:11 PM
i gave Toon Hulk a pass because its almost impossible to do practically

but if you can put the guy from the Avengers after credits scene in some makeup, you can find a way to make Josh Brolin's Thanos face look believable.

i mean, this CG looks like a video game cut scene.

Posted by BigWorm, Wed Nov-29-17 09:16 AM
I was going to post about how I'm starting to get a little bothered annoyed by how all the focus these days is on "which superhero is going to die in the next movie." Because as I get older mortality is more like a harsh reality than a fun conversation topic, and I mean as a kid reading comics, except for the rare death of Superman or Professor X, the question was are the heroes going to beat the bad guys, not "Who's going to die?"

BUT

I just broke my new "no-trailer" rule to watch this new trailer.

DAMN.

I gotta hand it to Marvel/Disney, man. I'm a pretty jaded old dude, but these movies STILL get me about as excited as I would have been back when I was reading Marvel Comics as a 15 year old. A franchise that can do that for like nearly 20 movies in a row? That is pretty remarkable.

726132, This feels like the culmination for every superhero movie

That thats after T'challa has beat the shit outta Cap
and locked him up for trespassing in Wakanda.

Similar to when he took him out in the animated series

Also, there is no shield seen in the trailer
it would be dope if Cap was using his energy shield
726156, Civil War makes me confident they'll do T'Challa right
Posted by bshelly, Thu Nov-30-17 10:24 AM
he was taking on Cap, Bucky, and Falcon at once, and it felt like he was about to kick all their asses. after that start and the pure majesty that will be the Black Panther movie in February, they're not gonna make him a sidekick.

I want to see Thanos turn the Hulk's jaw to powder.

I want to see Black Widow trapped and unable to outwit or flip her way out of a situation with that sad bug eyed look on her face.

I want to see Scarlett Witch feel powerless.

all the Ls are in the first one then it's the get back in 2?

because they're filming them at once, right? (or are they? I don't know the answer to this)

so I don't know, just for cost reasons, how much different it is to have actors in both or just one movie.

There is no way they wrap up the infinity gauntlet stuff in one movie. They can still call the next avengers movie infinity wars part 2 even without calling this one part 1.
726288, from the wiki:
Posted by araQual, Tue Dec-05-17 08:29 PM
"In October 2014, Marvel announced a two-part sequel to Age of Ultron, titled Avengers: Infinity War. Part 1 was scheduled to be released on May 4, 2018, with Part 2 scheduled for May 3, 2019. In April 2015, Marvel announced that Anthony and Joe Russo would direct both parts of Avengers: Infinity War, with back-to-back filming expected to begin in 2016. Also in the month, Kevin Feige said the films would be two, distinct films "because they such shared elements, it felt appropriate... to like that. But I wouldn’t call it one story that's cut in half. I would say it's going to be two distinct movies." By May 2015, Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely signed on to write the screenplays for both parts of the film. The following May, the Russos revealed that they would be retitling the two films, to further remove the misconception that the films were one large film split in two, with Joe stating, "The intention is we will change , we just haven’t come up with yet." In July 2016, Marvel removed the film's title, simply referring to it as Untitled Avengers film. Anthony Russo stated that the new title for the film would not be revealed "for quite some time", with Feige indicating the title was being withheld as it would give away plot details.

Principal photography began on August 10, 2017, under the working title Mary Lou 2, at Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayette County, Georgia, with Trent Opaloch serving as director of photography. Also in the month, filming occurred in The Gulch area of Downtown Atlanta, near the Five Points MARTA station, and Piedmont Park. Filming will take place in Edinburgh and Glasgow, Scotland in July 2018. Feige stated that the films were originally scheduled to be filmed simultaneously but instead decided to shoot them back-to-back explaining, "We're doing them one right after another. It became too complicated to cross-board them like that, and we found ourselves—again, something would always pay the price. We wanted to be able to focus and shoot one movie and then focus and shoot another movie." Anthony Russo originally felt it made more sense to shoot the films simultaneously due to financial and logistical reasons considering the large number of cast members, even though each part is its own distinct film, and suggested that "some days we'll be shooting the first movie and some days we'll be shooting the second movie. Just jumping back and forth."

726294, it might not be that bad, but the heroes will take an L
Posted by BigWorm, Wed Dec-06-17 08:14 AM
I mean keep in mind this is a franchise that they want to have mass appeal to kids and adults alike.

I think there will be lots of setups, a few great epic action scenes, and then yeah a big fight with Thanos where the heroes get beat down and at least one major character dies (which is annoying to me, but it seems like that's what everyone is expecting).

726338, I really hope this movie is 3 hours long
Posted by BigWorm, Fri Dec-08-17 10:03 AM
That is the only way they can even come close to making a movie with that many characters and giving them a somewhat satisfying amount of screen time.

I think one of the successes of the two Avengers movies (even Age of Ultron, which I liked more than most despite the glaring problems) was that they gave enough attention to each Avenger and didn't reduce anyone's part to just a glorified cameo. Even Civil War did this right, although maybe the argument could be made that Ant Man was just sort of shoe-horned in and wasn't really necessary. Still, it didn't feel bloated.

But this has like triple the size of those movies.

I'm sure they're going into this knowing how much is riding on this movie. I guess I just feel personally invested in these films, and it seems like this one is the biggest gamble by far.

728194, early thoughts on this
Posted by BigWorm, Fri Mar-02-18 07:18 AM
Man they have some heavy lifting to do with this movie.

Civil War, Spiderman Homeccoming and Black Panther definitely upped the game as far as complex antagonists. If they made Thanos a straight bag guy out to destroy/rule everything, it would be taking a step back.

But I don't see how they could really pull off the explanation in the comics that he's courting the personification of death.

Are they even going to try to make this a movie that a casual viewer can walk into? Or will it be assumed that the entry fee is having seen at least the majority of the previous Marvel films?

We all know that the #1 ruining factor for most superhero sequels is TOO MANY CHARACTERS. And yet we already know that this shit has 20x more characters than any other superhero movie. Civil War pulled it off successfully, but this movie has at least triple the ensemble cast of that movie.

For me this is easily the MCU movie I've been most excited about. And since Iron Man the quality of these movies has gone up exponentially. But damn, there are soooo many ways to fuck this one up.
728195, they keep saying this will tie up all lose ends
Posted by Boogiedwn, Fri Mar-02-18 08:15 AM
Like you said that is a lot of heavy lifting. I think they can do it though.
728196, they got this
Posted by bshelly, Fri Mar-02-18 09:12 AM
while the challenge is great, they've got several factors working in their favor

1) the only need to do character development on thanos and the black order. every hero is developed enough that they can just let it fly.

2) they've got two movies to do it all.

3) they've got an out on the personification of death in Hela. she's already been introduced as a damn-near omnipotent goddess of death. not only is she a perfect, non abstract stand in for death, she's a good enough, well developed enough character already that they don't have to spend a ton of time introducing. given her power levels, when thanos gets iced out and easily takes her down, everybody will get how powerful the gems are.
728197, only Hela's not in Infinity War
Posted by BigWorm, Fri Mar-02-18 09:39 AM
Unless they have been stealthy as hell about it, Cate Blanchett isn't in the movie, nor was there news of her being in Avengers 4.

I think she was one and done with Ragnarok.

But yeah I agree with you though, that would be a good workaround for the Death storyline.

728433, let's assume Stark AND Cap both die...
Posted by Tiger Woods, Fri Mar-16-18 01:55 PM
which, to me at least, seems possible.

I think they can comfortably move forward with young Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Chris Pratt's Star Lord. Bucky is obviously poised to become the vibranium-armed Cap 2, and Brie Larson hasn't even made her turn at Ms.Marvel (reminder, Larson is a big deal)

It's hard to believe, but I think they can almost hit the reset button entirely and run it back with a whole new cast of compelling characters.
728435, Bucky is now The White Wolf. I doubt he's taking the Cap mantle anytime soon.
Posted by Cold Truth, Fri Mar-16-18 02:47 PM
I can't see them naming him White Wolf and then pivoting quickly to take on the Cap mantle.

That said, for now we have Spider Man, Dr Strange, and Black Panther to take over. Thor will likely get two more flicks off the strength of the revelation that Ragnorak turned out to be, complete with his "Revenger" supporting cast.

There's also Ant Man.
728436, Nah. Plus both of them are in the next Avengers flick too.
Posted by WarriorPoet415, Fri Mar-16-18 03:07 PM
I don't think we'll see a major character die. More likely, if anything, is the "i'm too old for this shit" semi-retirement of someone.

in 3D IMAX ... Yo! I can't take this anymore.

I just want to go into suspended animation
and wake up in my seat at the movies

Side Note: The kid wasn't really fully understanding the
implications of this. He's grown up in the age of MCU and
he's spoiled AF.
728752, for real though
Posted by BigWorm, Tue Apr-03-18 01:43 PM
I can't even think of a recent movie I've been more excited about. Definitely WAY more excited about this than any of the last few Star Wars movies (even though I liked them).

I still don't see how it can be anything other than a huge bloated mess of plot holes where most of the stars have roles reduced to little more than cameos. But I can definitely say that while watching it I'll probably be grinning the whole time.

I kind of don't even want to read any reviews first. And I'm just saying though, if bwood comes back here saying the movie is some bullshit, it's going to break my heart.

728763, This is how I feel with my son

>Side Note: The kid wasn't really fully understanding the

>he's spoiled AF.

On the one hand, I'm glad he's excited about the movie and the MCU as a whole. But he doesn't have the same historical context as I do, and I can't really explain it to him. He's not going to know about comic shopping, or not having commentary or backstory instantly available to you at your fingertips. I remember trying to explain why, say, Spiderman 3 should have been impossible, or why Civil War was much different from the comics and why Spidey had to be it it, or why they can't do crossovers like freaking SECRET WARS, and the simple fact that you have a plethora of well written, well acted comic book/super hero movies on their own merit is amazing, let alone the fact that there's a shared universe they can all play in.

It's a different timeline, different story line, different point of view. I always end up stepping back and letting him enjoy it on his wavelength, but trying to pull him back once he goes into insufferable/uninformed fanboy mode
728764, I couldn't turn away.

I really wanted to shit on it, until I can see the whole thing, but gotdamit, that shit looks dope.

I did manage to say "If only there were 3-4 incredibly strong, NYC-based people to help Spider-Man in his time of need."
728768, soooooo....what's with the lack of Hawkeye?
Posted by araQual, Wed Apr-04-18 09:47 PM
shit's getting weirder and weirder.
first it was the complete lack of promo in the trailers or tv spots or even the official poster.
then it's the Russos saying Clint's "on his own journey" in the film due to the events of Civil War.
now folks are saying the Russos are purposely throwing us off some big reveal involving Hawkeye, possibly his death?
it's probly the strangest part of the whole IW promo campaign and i'm not any closer to figuring out why.

only other thing i could think of was some kinda real-life Renner vs Marvel dispute which has him sidelined for most of the action.
anyone got any theories?

V.
728769, RE: soooooo....what's with the lack of Hawkeye?
Posted by nipsey, Wed Apr-04-18 10:58 PM
I don't think there is any real life dispute. I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow has a bigger role in the next movie than this one. Cutting him out of promos because he's "going to die" is too obvious a move. They know fan boys dissect everything and would figure that out quickly.

But I do know (strongly suspect) that Vision dies. In one of the commercials, he tells the Scarlet Witch, "We don't have anymore time." or something like that while she holds him. So that's my official guess on who dies. I'm sure there will be more.
728770, I thought his omission was due to him landing in hot water
Posted by rorschach, Wed Apr-04-18 10:59 PM
Last year in regards to some comments he made. I just figured that Disney made sure the fan favorites of the MCU had the most face time in the trailers. There are Hawkeye fans out there but I doubt they are as large a group as Iron Man fans....or even Black Panther fans.

Or maybe Hawkeye just doesn't have a major role in this part.

728776, I sort of agree with you, except
Posted by BigWorm, Thu Apr-05-18 09:31 AM
"The city is flying! We're fighting an army of robots! And I have a bow and arrow! None of this makes sense!"

Personally that line in Age of Ultron made him my favorite Avenger. He isn't a master assassin, or a god, or gifted with superpowers. He doesn't have a super suit or any genetic enhancements. All dude is bringing to the table is good archery skills.

He doesn't need posters or the spotlight or whatever, and it's kind of a thankless role for Jeremy Renner (though I'm sure he's making bank for it), I hope they don't just kill him off. Kill off Captain America, maybe even Iron Man, but killing off Hawkeye would be too easy and shock NO ONE. He is like the Avengers equivalent of the guys in the red uniforms on Star Trek. He really has no place on the team. Which makes me want to see him stick around, since he is just this regular guy that has to keep up with all this hi-tech and superpowers. His solo comic from a few years ago really dives into all that.

I think Joss Whedon understood that, and I think it's why he did the fake-out in AoU and didn't kill him off then. He is great to keep as the dude who at all times is in way over his head.

728794, lol good lord...the hate is strong for Clint
Posted by araQual, Fri Apr-06-18 01:08 AM
before y'all downplay his involvement ALL the way down to the ground, the only reason me or anyone else is askin is cos he's part of the Avengers team. i think most fans expect him to get SOME kind of billing SOMEwhere, considering he's part of the original MCU Avengers lineup.
y'all can argue his efficacy as a member of that team all you want, he's been there from jump and should be represented somehow. arguing that shit away cos nobody gaf about him isn't really good enough.

same goes for having this epic 10yr MCU plan culminate with these 2 Avengers movies without so much as a mention of Phil Coulson. it's a reasonable expectation to have the OGs be a part of this crowning achievement.

V.
728799, I doubt they'll mention Coulson again
Posted by BigWorm, Fri Apr-06-18 10:19 AM
Then they might have to worm around the fact that he's alive in the show, and so far the movies have been good about totally disregarding what happens in the show.

remember seeing references to this late last yr, worth another look:

https://screenrant.com/avengers-4-hawkeye-ronin.
https://screenrant.com/why-hawkeye-becomes-ronin-avengers-4-theory/2.

^^^ this makes a whole lot more sense.
i'm thinkn they wanna keep his whole arc a secret cos he's gonna lose big time in IW, setting him up to become Ronin in A4. which is cool, but still weird he's not in any promo materials.

... outside of the Russos and Kevin.

The Russo Brothers made it clear that if Infinity War didn't effect your character going forward, you don't get to see it.

1. James Gunn cause of Guardians 3. He's been singing the film's prasies for a minute on Twitter.

2. Jon Watts cause he's getting ready to shoot Spider-Man in June.

3. Ryan Coogler which I guess confirms he's gonna be involved in the Black Panther sequel in some compacity.

They said they've been working with Peyton Reed in Ant-Man and the Wasp as well as Captain Marvel.

Can't wait for tomorrow night.
