721268, All hail the return of Veep. (HBO, 2017)

The laughs were coming a by the second with this first episode for the new season. Pretty sure I'm missing some of the better jokes with my shoddy memory, but that CBS meltdown interview was comedy gold. Also pretty wild to see JLD's character having to get what seems like allowance from her daughter to get by.

This is the final season, correct? Should be interesting to see how the show will provide closure.

I'm sure folks here already read about how the show had to remove a potential joke because it landed to close to something Trump was rumored to be involved with.
721271, The fact they rather work with Jonah than Selina is hilarious
Posted by spenzalii, Mon Apr-17-17 02:49 PM
Kent's reaction was the best thing of the episode
721274, Chief of staff dude working at Uber was the funniest to me
Posted by PimpTrickGangstaClik, Mon Apr-17-17 05:52 PM
Making off-color Asian jokes lol. He has no business in that environment

And Splett lmao. I'm glad they are giving him a bigger role.
721319, "Dan ny" during the closing credits was perfect

721421, Richard Splett for MVP.
Posted by Numba_33, Mon Apr-24-17 01:41 PM
It wasn't necessarily the best or biggest joke, but when dude said "Tough break here, bud." right after the former press secretary guy got 'fired' by Selina in the car, I was laughing so long and hard, I didn't hear the dialog for the next couple of scenes. The pitch perfect timing and inflection for that line just totally killed me.

Pretty damn sad this is the last season.
721425, Man. Splett's little comments throughout the episode were killing me
Posted by PimpTrickGangstaClik, Mon Apr-24-17 02:18 PM
Splett-shirts
Him calling out all the felonies Selina's ex-husband was scheming on.

"How long has that kid been hiding there? Splett: I think just today, but I can't be sure"
721448, Anything with Jonah has me in tears
Posted by spenzalii, Tue Apr-25-17 12:31 PM
They could spin that off for a season and I wouldn't be mad.
721452, A Splett-Jonah spinoff would be gold!
Posted by PimpTrickGangstaClik, Tue Apr-25-17 02:47 PM
721466, Gary's "mmh" and "oh" reactions are just the best

721580, Splett and Jonah going to the neo-nazi concert lol
Posted by PimpTrickGangstaClik, Mon May-01-17 10:10 AM
Another episode with joke after joke after joke.

Kent was the MVP this time:
"There is literally no Georgian law. And I am using literally correctly"

"Hawaii is rightfully a monarchy and will be again"
721745, When Ben called Jonah the 'Twinless Tower' I damn near lost it
Posted by spenzalii, Mon May-08-17 05:23 PM
Solid gold, this show is...
721775, I was a pitcher's helper ©Richard Splett
Posted by placee_22, Tue May-09-17 12:28 PM
That shit had me rollin.
721804, He might be one of my favorite characters of all time
Posted by PimpTrickGangstaClik, Wed May-10-17 10:48 AM
When he called Jonah and Jonah had that long, insulting intro. Like "Well well well, look who it is. Disloyal......"

Richard just responds earnestly like, "No this Richard Splett" lol

Those little things he does kill me
722329, RE: He might be one of my favorite characters of all time

>Richard just responds earnestly like, "No this Richard Splett"
>lol

He's one of the few characters on the show that doesn't have ulterior motives and doesn't act through a sense of cynicism.
721834, The look Gary gave when the doctor told him bye >>>

722175, We're nearing GOAT territory.

I'm not gonna say yet that it's the funniest show ever, but it's really fucking close.
722679, Selina upped her 'ain't shit' quotient even higher. So pissed at Gary
Posted by spenzalii, Mon Jun-12-17 12:13 PM
He had to snap on both her and his dad (Stephen Root FTW), but only got to one of them. I'd have choked Selina with one of those ribs.

Dan and Jonah were hilarious too
723004, Kind of a let down
Posted by Numba_33, Mon Jun-26-17 08:03 AM
both in terms of laughs and the ending as well, but the flashbacks were well done. Kind of a shame because it was cool this season seeing the crew scramble around while being outside of Washington trying to earn their keep so to speak.

Feels a bit silly to type SPOILER ALERT since this is a half hour sitcom and not a drama, but does the one of the scenes from the ending credits mean the end of Mike McClintock (sp?) for the next season? Also, with Trump in office, is it a bit presumptuous to assuming Jonah will in fact become president next season?
734945, So

what did folks think of that final season and the final episode? Pretty cool to see the show ride the wave of the Selina character being a true heel. Props to Julia Louis-Dreyfus portraying the role to a full T and props to her for coming back from that breast cancer scare as well.

Sad to see such a stellar sitcom go off the air. Even more so since Trump's presidency could provide the show with plot-lines for season upon season.
734947, Incredible show. Competes for GOAT comedy. All hail JLD.
Posted by Frank Longo, Tue May-14-19 04:15 PM
Brilliant sendoff too.
734952, Damn they went for it.
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Wed May-15-19 07:42 AM
I am so glad that they figured out richard splett was the heart of the show.

Amazing how they didn't cop out and let her lose gracefully or win virtuously. They really made us feel her winning was the worst choice that she could make.

Nailed the landing. Great Great Show.

734955, I struggled through the last 2 seasons

I laughed don't get me wrong but it felt like every single line was an over the top punch line - still in the all-time comedy discussion and I enjoyed but it just became almost too outrageous imo
734956, agreed. This last season was awful honestly
Posted by Stadiq, Wed May-15-19 01:12 PM

A lot of forced shit too, like the Amy character going full Kelly Ann. I get it, but it was poorly done/rushed/etc.

Had to force myself to watch this season.

734958, Great read on how Trump changed the show

Maybe not that bad. She started off like appealing anti-hero Walter White at the beginning of Breaking Bad and ended up being the Walter White that got Hank killed.

I enjoyed the season. Not as much as previous seasons, but it was still good to me. But what she did to Gary made me want to shed a tear. That was probably the most terrible thing she's done in a long line of terrible things. Gary didn't deserve that.

But at least Richard got to be President. Kind of saw that coming when he went from Mayor to Lt Governor. I was just waiting to see how it was going to happen.
734983, Poor Gary
Posted by spenzalii, Fri May-17-19 01:35 AM
Great series. This season was rushed being only 7 eps (and definitely felt it), but it still brought the funny. Being upstaged by Hanks at the end was fitting
