717105, Check out BBC/Amazon's Fleabag if you have a chance

Its a gloriously filthy take on a single woman in a big city, think Broad City/Louis CK standup but on steroids. There's also dark underpinnings involved to why she's so dysfunctional, which slowly let themselves be known as the series goes on. Here's the trailer but it doesn't do it justice, they gave it that cheesy rom-com edit feel.

It's built up from a one woman play from the main actress/writer but you couldn't tell; its pretty wide screen for a television comedy and a gem of a tv show. And it's one of the few comedies in recent memory where it had me in shock on some, "Oh shit, they went there!"

Only 6 episodes, give the first one a try...if Atlanta's my fav comedy this year this is firmly a #2
717107, Yeah i liked this

Thought at first it was going to be just another sex comedy but it definitely grew on me as it went on & was surprised it had so much depth.
717141, i'll give it a shot!

Im glad I read this. Show was great. Thanks for the recommendation.
718793, Same, enjoyed it. I do laugh at the conceit that she's unattractive

Series took me by surprise, but I ate it all when it appeared on the BBC. I hope she can keep her writing quality up - genuinely brilliant at times.

She's also written Crashing which is airing on Channel 4 at the moment, I think... not got round to starting it yet.
735000, Season 2 is up. It is excellent.

735120, Just saw the 1st 2 eps

My wife and I liked it. though she is very unlikable.

But her telling the cabbie about how her friend dies in ep 1 or 2 was so funny.
735130, Loved how S1E2 starts.

On the train?
Just gloriously odd.
735137, Adding this to the list.

Sounds like something I would be into.
735182, Here I was thinking Season 2 of Barry was the high watermark

for TV at the moment. The second season of Fleabag came through and fucked me all up.

Season 2 of this is fucking transcendent television. I watched it twice this weekend and it got even better. This is perfect television.

Note: Season 1 was amazing as well, absolutely so. To top that is an extraordinary achievement.
735205, great season. Olivia Colman steals every scene she's in.

I think I liked season 1 a little more, but this is still a great scene. And Olivia Colman is absolutely hilarious. A couple scenes had me laughing out loud, especially when the priest backs out of the wedding and she wait til he leaves then screams that he's a f***ing c**t. I lost it.
736176, Man I love this show.

First season was amazing but I was late to get to season two because I haven't been in the mood for anything dark lately.

This season had me on the edge but never jumped off the clip into darkness and I appreciate the hopefulness of it.

The first episode of season 2 was a perfect season opener. It had everything.

**Spoiler**

I was watching petrified that she would ruin that Preacher's life and calling. That she didn't made it all bearable for me.

I was kind of waiting for her talking to the camera to come out to be an actual part of a mental illness. Like a re-instating the 4th wall plot twist. I like it was suggested without actually makeing clear. Clever AF.

738172, 1) the boards are dead 2) where are the Black people
Posted by CherNic, Tue Mar-10-20 08:49 AM
I don't really give a show/movie a chance nowadays if there are zero Black characters.
738590, Caught up. What a fuckin' great little show
Posted by Mynoriti, Mon Apr-27-20 02:04 PM
in that Atlanta/Louie mold just in that you can't really describe the show in a way that does it justice.

so many little things. also i love how most characters outside of Claire and Martin have no names.
738591, oh yeah, that show was PERFECT...
Posted by Voodoochilde, Mon Apr-27-20 10:13 PM
i know im not saying anything that prob already been said, but that show was perfect from start to finish, and went out like a champ! totally stuck the landing. i wouldnt change one thing about this gem of a show....
