Nah, it's not about the story being unoriginal
It's about it being clumsily written and executed
You can make non-hokey of the story in that film
Dial it down, remove the old actors almost completely, work HARD on pacing the story
They weren't actually that essential
The actors were quite good, it wouldn't have been very difficult with that talent
