Definitely funny for the bulk of the film. It attempts to go for genuine emotion alongside the genre parody stuff, which makes for an overall mixed bag.
Still, horror fans, fans of genre-bending a la Cabin in the Woods, and fans of comic actors like Adam Devine and Thomas Middleditch should find plenty here to make it worth the rental.

Its not scary, but its cool.
Devine does his usual thing and its funny.
Taissa Farmiga is good, her yearn for mom is real.
I'm not a huge Malin Ackerman fan so she never really does much for me, but she was cool here.
I don't know if its worth that $15.99 HD rental price, but its worth a spin.

This was refreshing though. It was certainly worth the 6.99 rental with the Mrs during a weekend shut-in.
I loved that final battle in particular. The music, the cinematography, fx, everything worked very well together for a satisfying conclusion.
This likely would have had a Hot Tub Time Machine type of run with bigger named stars.
