The Unsullied are s conventional fighting force that are used to fighting battled in the open fields. They are not a police or occupational force. It is not surprising at all that the SOH are able to cause havoc and best the Unsullied in close quarter fights and ambush attacks.
Mereen is GoTs Iraq and Dany was a naive GWB who thought she would be welcomed as a liberator and wouldn't face any resistance.
