They are great and nearly unstoppable in an open field of battle but they are not an occupation force or built to fight a gorilla force. The Unsullied are trained to win wars and defear armies in the open field of battle, not occupy cities or police the streets.
Besides, as you said it appeared the Unsullied were killing more SOH compared to Unsullied being killed by the SOH. It seemed like the Unsullied were outnumbered 6-1 but they were holding their own, especially when they formed that circle around Dany.
