it was gratuitous and cheap and lazy. everyone watching already hated ramsey, knew he was a psychopath and wanted him dead. this scene did nothing to change that opinion and, in my case, took me out of the scene and made me think about the people writing the show while i was watching it. not sure that's what you want to go for with your audience.

the idea that women need to be raped to create some sense of agency is also pretty repugnant and lazy, too. sansa has seen her father beheaded, lived with joffrey's psycho ways, lived in fear around the hound and her escape from king's landing, has had half her family murdered, is back in the home that was taken from her, with the man who betrayed her family to allow the bolton's to take it...but no, rape is what she really needs to start making moves for herself. give me a break.
