That scene would've played out more sensibly if they just let her huff off in a depression and go to the woods to contemplate her life's worth now that the One Huge Mission in her life resulted in total rejection.
I can see how she would see Sansa being with Littlefinger as a threat to Catelyn's protection order but I also could've seen Brienne taking Sansa's stern disapproval as a release from the gig and gone to the nearest pub for the rest of her life. Maybe become a bouncer at a brothel in King's Landing.
