694915, Best UNDER-30 Actress?
Posted by Basaglia, Wed Dec-31-69 07:00 PM

I prefer Steinfield and Stewart (tie) to the rest. I left off Olson and Mara, as I ran outta options. You can write it your vote.

Poll question: Best UNDER-30 Actress?

Poll result (13 votes)
Lawrence (4 votes)Vote
Woodley (1 votes)Vote
Stone (4 votes)Vote
Watson (1 votes)Vote
Steinfield (1 votes)Vote
Stewart (2 votes)Vote

694922, Lawrence is the only one I've seen turn in a BAD performance
Posted by John Forte, Tue Mar-24-15 03:35 PM
Olsen might be the best. Steward is kinda wooden.
694928, You didn't see Kristen Stewart act like shitty herion fiend
Posted by astralblak, Tue Mar-24-15 06:36 PM
in those twilight films? or seem dead in the Huntsmen, when she's suppose to be the heroin, or erase all of Joan Jett's swag in Runaways?

she was good in Panic Room and Welcome to the Rileys.
694944, Stewart was terrific in Adventureland and On The Road.
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Mar-25-15 12:35 AM
And I've heard nothing but tremendous things about Clouds of Sils Maria.

Can't blame her for being shitty in poorly written studio fare, imo.

Yeah she gets alot of hate for Twilight but shes actually a really good actress when given a chance. Loved adventureland, she was one of the reasons. She was really good in Camp X-Ray as well.
694952, I agree on Adevntureland
Posted by Dae021, Wed Mar-25-15 09:12 AM
Good shit from her, i'm not going to defend Twilight nor give her a pass for it. It was turrible
694959, Same here. Adventureland was great, but can't forgive Twilight.
Posted by John Forte, Wed Mar-25-15 09:56 AM
694964, Name an actor who COULD'VE been good in that role.
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Mar-25-15 11:58 AM
It's a role that requires passive moping for four films. The character isn't without agency, without narrative, and without... well, character. Her main characteristic is being mopey.

That's why I give her a pass. And Pattinson for that matter. I've seen them be terrific in other films. It's not their fault that the material absolutely dampened all charisma.
694968, Maybe Scar Jo
Posted by jigga, Wed Mar-25-15 12:10 PM
694970, Not brooding enough.
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Mar-25-15 12:23 PM
If there's one thing Stewart can do in her sleep, it's brooding.

Besides, wasn't she too old already by that point? Or looked too old, anyway?
694977, Couple years prior she was still boring enough
Posted by jigga, Wed Mar-25-15 01:46 PM
>If there's one thing Stewart can do in her sleep, it's
>brooding.

That's the main problem I have w/ her...she's stuck in sleepwalk mode

She didn't do anything in Adventureland I haven't seen from her before & Margarita Levieva stole that flick w/ probably 1/2 the screen time

>Besides, wasn't she too old already by that point? Or looked
>too old, anyway?

Probably, but Scar's early work is very reminiscent imo
694999, Eh, this is your dick talking, friend.
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Mar-25-15 10:45 PM
> & Margarita Levieva stole that flick w/ probably

Which, I don't blame you for listening. Stewart brings soul to that role, though.

That movie showcased how good Ryan Reynolds could be too. I want him to live up to what he could be, but he seems farther gone, since he doesn't have fuck you Twilight money to coast off of for the rest of his life. She can work with indie directors in small productions for the rest of her life, just like Pattinson.
695013, Nah...both heads believe this

Twas a good role...don't recall her doing much to elevate it

Twas a good role for him too & his acting was fine but didn't give me the feeling he's got a lot more potential than what he's shown so far. Might've felt different had he given a Tom Hardy like Locke performance in Buried but that needed snakes to keep me awake.
695012, Ricci - Pretty much her bread and butter.
Posted by spades, Thu Mar-26-15 10:20 AM
695329, plus she isnt a mouth breather
Posted by RobOne4, Wed Apr-01-15 09:54 PM
694929, in order: Moretz, Fanning, Lawrence, Jurnee Smollet...
Posted by astralblak, Tue Mar-24-15 06:44 PM
if Nicole Beharie is under 30 add her as 5, if not Stone.
694945, Kaitlyn Dever from Justified
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Wed Mar-25-15 12:37 AM
That little girl can act her ass off. Shes been really really good in every role ive seen her in, even shitty movies.

Jennifer Lawrence killed it in Winter's Bone but i havent been impressed since....she just plays Jennifer Lawrence as whatever character now, i dont get the hype...she needs to pick more challenging roles and stop fucking with David O Russel...i couldnt understand when people were picking her for the Oscar that year over Lupita

^^^These are my exact feelings. I thought she did a tremendous job in Winter's Bone. Everything else has been just, meh.
694960, She was solid in Silver Linings Playbook
Posted by John Forte, Wed Mar-25-15 09:59 AM
but other than that and Winter's Bone, meh. And she's awful in the X-Men movies.
694957, Olsen or Mara
Posted by jigga, Wed Mar-25-15 09:49 AM
694966, So no one saw Martha Marcy May Marlene huh?

694982, I think we've all seen it
Posted by astralblak, Wed Mar-25-15 03:20 PM
decent movie

John Hawkes was the best part of to me

the love for Olsen in that movie was a bit over-hyped for me
694969, I want to put Brie Larson out there.
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Mar-25-15 12:12 PM
Her performance in Short Term 12 I put right alongside Lawrence in Winter's Bone and Olsen in Martha Marcy May Marlene. She has better comedy chops than anyone listed not named Stone, AND the dramatic chops to compete with the rest. That versatility makes me a huge believer in her.
694981, I thought she was 30 or over, but agree
Posted by astralblak, Wed Mar-25-15 03:18 PM
.
695002, co-sign to the fullest
Posted by Madvillain 626, Thu Mar-26-15 12:20 AM
694986, No Amanda Seyfried?
Posted by muzuabo, Wed Mar-25-15 06:01 PM
695007, Seyfried confuses me.can't tell if she can act, can't tell if she's hot*
Posted by John Forte, Thu Mar-26-15 08:38 AM
*onscreen. I saw her on the street. She's hot.
695011, She's definitely hot. That red riding hood movie confirmed that for me.
Posted by muzuabo, Thu Mar-26-15 10:05 AM
695297, she has the julia stiles syndrome
Posted by boyd, Wed Apr-01-15 11:00 AM
in the right light she is the gorgeous woman in the room
694991, RE: Best UNDER-30 Actress?
Posted by go mack, Wed Mar-25-15 06:56 PM
I might still go with Dakota Fanning. She doesn't work as much but was good in Runaways (out acted Stewart) and has some damn good child performances under her belt. Most of these only have one great performance to me anyways...

Or girl who plays Arya Stark. lol mainly cuz of her part tho
695000, why would you even add Stewart?
Posted by RobOne4, Wed Mar-25-15 11:10 PM
them Twilight movies alone should keep her off the list. She was horrible in Adventureland too.
695022, you don't know what you're talking about.
Posted by Basaglia, Thu Mar-26-15 11:56 AM
695107, CTRL +F Saoirse Ronan
Posted by SankofaII, Sat Mar-28-15 08:40 PM
WTF?!

Hanna, Atonement, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Byzantium, The Lovely Bones, How I Live Now, the upcoming Mary, Queen of Scots biopic?

Ronan more than held her own against Cate Blanchett in Hanna...how she not anywhere in this post?!

SMH
695109, Valid. I coulda at least mentioned her.

695123, damn i forgot about her....shes dope
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Sun Mar-29-15 03:47 PM
LOVED Hanna
695155, Shit, good ass point.
Posted by spades, Mon Mar-30-15 11:17 AM
I adored her in Hannah & The Grand Budapest hotel. As did most folks who've seen her work. Looks like her profile needs to be a bit bigger.
695181, excellent choice
Posted by astralblak, Mon Mar-30-15 06:52 PM
but why she look like Blanchet's clone
695234, ^^^my pick. she's ill.
Posted by dula dos pistolas, Tue Mar-31-15 03:58 PM
695300, Great pick. She's unreal.

695305, Need to see her in something else but Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones)
Posted by ShinobiShaw, Wed Apr-01-15 03:24 PM
The last season of GoT she was on it.
695314, another good choice - she's pretty amazing.
Posted by spades, Wed Apr-01-15 04:57 PM
695319, Lead or Supporting...by the time they hit 30?
Posted by Basaglia, Wed Apr-01-15 06:58 PM

Leads: Stone, Stewart, Lawrence, Woodley, Mara, Dakota Johnson

They're the only ones combo of physical stature, looks and chops to play all the major genres and open at the B.O.

Contenders: Dakota Fanning - gotta see her as an adult. does she have the same charisma?

Supporting: Watson, Steinfeld, Moretz, Seyfried, Ronan, E. R. Wood, Breslin, Kendrick, Page

Too short or not that talented to be a lead.

I'm sure I've forgotten plenty...but those come to mind.
695320, I'd bump Kendrick to lead. She's terrific.
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Apr-01-15 07:16 PM
She can do nothing but musicals for the next decade and be good.

I also think Ronan could be a lead too. She's certainly held her own as the lead of some films as a child.
695421, Kendrick mos def a niche lead...not a triple threat lead.

ronan i could see, but her look a bit too ethereal.

Mara will be a supporting actress.

Kendrick is a leading lady and Ronan will be whatever Cate Blanchett is.
