Love Jessica Chastain. Didn't like Del Toro's last film but I feel like it just wasn't for me. This seems like a return to form.
693263, I'll definitely be checking this out.

694514, Saw this last night. Easily in del Toro's top 3

This film is a cross between a Merchant-Ivory film meets The Innocents meets The Shining meets The Conjuring.

It's very romantic but also very scary.

Besides Thomas Tull, I was the only other male there. A lot of the ladies say it's Guillermo del Toro's best film yet, but to me it's in his top 3. Once the film was over, everyone was crying for some reason or another.

But yea son, this is a beautiful film in every sense of the word. But it's also truly scary. He really outdid himself here.

I hope this gets burn during awards season.

Gonna shoot Thomas Tull an email everyday until he caves and funds either of my projects or someone else I can put on.
694529, Yea homie, i'm in

703589, gorgeous movie...

i probably spelled gorgeous wrong....

but this movie looks wonderful. the textures the colors the set details....its visually rich and deep and, for me, its satisfying on that level alone.

i purposely avoided trailers and ariticles before seeing it, because i didn't want to have any pre conceived expectations going in and i'm very glad i did that.

for those that want some sort of advance heads-up on what type of film to expect though....

the director himself describes it as a "Gothic Romance", and after seeing it myself, i think he pretty much nailed it with that description...and pretty much nailed it as far as executing that 'vibe' on screen. A very satisfying Gothic Romance experience with this directors aesthetic (which i LOVE) all over it.

cast was great. and for me it was especially VERY cool to see Mia Wasikowska again. she previously starred in of one of my favorite little films ever, the 'perfect' 14 minute flick "I Love Sara Jane" from 2008....

but yeah, i'm a big fan of Del Toro...i can always find something in all of his films to love, and he's also made one film thats one of my all time favorites period (Pans)...and this new one, Crimson Peak didn't dissapoint either. everyone in the theater seemed to dig it (there were a LOT of ladies at the screening i attended). My wife really loved it too...
703598, Good, not great.

It was what I would call a romantic ghost story. The acting (even Jax Teller) and cinematography were fantastic, but I was hoping for more scares overall.
