He's hosted the Tonys a few times. He did a big Oscars opening number too. He's a big musical theatre dude at heart.
692205, Well, he was in the Les Mis film

I dunno if it's still up, but he's great.
692299, You know what? I like the casting
Posted by spades, Thu Feb-05-15 06:40 PM
but still, nah.
692187, Katherine McPhee would most certainly be attached
Posted by John Forte, Wed Feb-04-15 09:50 AM
692307, Do it like JUMP STREET
Posted by CaptNish, Thu Feb-05-15 08:45 PM
Embrace the cheese, and it could easily work.
692308, Better yet: hire Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Feb-05-15 08:52 PM
Not only do they love musicals, but they would fill it to the brim with devastating satire about our killer cop culture.
692331, i like this idea with the cast mentioned above
Posted by Calico, Fri Feb-06-15 07:54 AM
including Lady McPhee (i don't know why i find her so attractive, but i do)
692323, Shoot the music moments like music videos

That "Let's be careful out there" clip is 100% more awkward because it's a dude singing to a room full of cops who have zero reaction.

Then again, it's probably better to avoid songs about basic facts and focus the songs on the emotions of the characters. It would be easier to make a show like Oz into a musical than Law & Order or Hill St. Blues because of that. A musical procedural is a pretty damn difficult venture.
