This film handled the premise of superheroes fighting each other SO much better. And it's really the same premise of the collateral damage from fighting bad guys putting the good guys against each other.

But in Civil War it's so much more believable. They went with Iron Man being the one willing to sign with the government. And yeah they had him meet Alfre Woodard who blamed him for her son's death, but beyond that we have to remember that everything that happened with Ultron was directly because of what he did. He created Ultron who them caused all that destruction, so it makes sense that the world would be upset with the Avengers, and that he would be feeling the guilt from what happened. While in BVS it doesn't really make sense how pissed the world is with Superman since the collateral damage from MOS was him saving all of humanity from getting wiped out by Zod.

There's a ton to unpack in Civil War with revenge and how the characters deal with thoughts of revenge being a common theme throughout. But wow...they did such a great job on this movie.
