...how Dan Slott is writing this as Dr. Who fan fiction (which I'm totally cool with as a DW fan since the early 80s). People that are aware of who the Doctor is generally aren't crazy about him being on their planet because his presence tends to coincide with terrible things happening. Folks associate the Surfer with being the prep chef for someone who's going to eat their planet, makes sense that word wouldn't have gotten around that he's not that guy anymore.
