@bdgrabinski: JOHN WICK for Best Picture. #FantasticFest

@BayerJeff: Wow. #Johnwick is my favorite revenge flick of all time. #FantasticFest

@NordlingAICN: JOHN WICK: Practically a Roadrunner cartoon. It's also a fuckton of fun. #FantasticFest

@firstshowing: John Wick - DAMN! That was fuckin fantastic!! Keanu Reeves is back! Just an excellent action movie with great story, great action, perfect.

@BayerJeff: JOHN WICK is an emotionally positive powerful revenge flick with great action.

@devincf: Yay! Everybody loved JOHN WICK. I think it's a super solid, fun B-action movie with ALL THE HEADSHOTS.

@DrewAtHitFix: JOHN WICK is the goods. So much good stuff. Keanu is on fire these days, #FantasticFest

@JacobSHall: JOHN WICK is bonkers. Keanu is great. Action is outstanding. The world building (!) is fascinating. It's the best action movie of 2014.

@RylandAldrich: JOHN WICK is all balls. The closest thing we've had to cinematic adaptation of a 1st person shooter. Keanu rules. #FantasticFest #GamerGate

@mattsinger: JOHN WICK: Keanu Reeves is suddenly the new Jason Statham. This pleases me. This movie also has a weird, cool world. #FantasticFest

@Sam_Strange: A better title for JOHN WICK would be SUPER BADASS BRAIN SPLATTERER.

@williambgoss: Almost said the same. "@tylermager: JOHN WICK is this year's JACK REACHER."

@colonelmortimer: JOHN WICK is my NINJA 2 for this year's #FantasticFest.

686092, Hold up, was Keanu ever a good actor? Good action star?
Posted by imcvspl, Wed Oct-01-14 09:00 AM
I only remember a shitty actor and mediocre action performances. I mean the great thing about an action vehicle is that it doesn't require the finest acting skills. But then you've gotta believe him right. Don't know if I can suspend belief that Keanu is the baddest assassin ever for 2 hours. Shit I still haven't seen perhaps his best action portrayal (that one he produced where he's the villain) because I just couldn't convince myself to believe him all the way to the end.

Don't mind my hate though.

686119, he's been in three classic action films
Posted by navajo joe, Wed Oct-01-14 05:43 PM
and has been cast perfectly in each

Point Break
Speed
The Matrix

He also directed a hell of a martial arts film in Man of Tai Chi.

He knows how to pick action films that are well-made and action films that have a role perfectly suited for his limitations as an actor.
687605, Yeah, you need to see this one.
Posted by Frank Longo, Fri Oct-24-14 12:25 PM
His cold demeanor is absolutely perfect for creating the mythology this character carries with him.
686610, My wife and I saw the commercial for this and thought
Posted by nipsey, Wed Oct-08-14 07:21 PM
it could be awesome. I think we'll check it out.
687158, Went to see this last night.
Posted by jamalbricks, Thu Oct-16-14 10:58 AM
Local theatre had a free screening and I checked it out. Not too bad, kind of on the same level as the Equalizer in my opinion...at least in terms of the revenge and action aspect.
687160, NIGGA!!!!!!!! This movie goes the fuck in.
Posted by bwood, Thu Oct-16-14 11:09 AM
We used to make jokes in high school about shooting niggas in the face. And we'd laugh cause it so ridiculous.

Here, John is constantly shooting niggas in the face using Gun-Fu.

And every single Gun-Fu movie in existence has sucked. Now we have one that's so ill.

And the supporting cast is vast and excellent.

The movie knows exactly what is and never tries to be something that it's not. And I appreciate that.
687399, 100% on RT so far
Posted by nipsey, Tue Oct-21-14 09:30 AM
My wife and I are definitely seeing it this weekend.

All I need to say.
687596, Is Keanu Dogg back, Frank?
Posted by Deebot, Fri Oct-24-14 10:14 AM
Is he really back?
687604, His best role since The Matrix.
Posted by Frank Longo, Fri Oct-24-14 12:24 PM
Maybe his best movie since then too.
687633, Constantine better.
Posted by SoulHonky, Sat Oct-25-14 01:47 AM
I'd say Street Kings as well but that film is in my genre wheelhouse while John Wick wasn't.
687631, people keep asking if keanu's back...
Posted by raptor44, Fri Oct-24-14 11:12 PM
yeah, i'm thinking he's back.
687589, i have to wait til nxt Friday cos i wanna see it @ the drive-ins
Posted by araQual, Fri Oct-24-14 08:08 AM
but should be worth the wait. im pretty effin excited.

V.
687632, Oh.
Posted by SoulHonky, Sat Oct-25-14 01:46 AM
I guess I should have lowered my expectations. This isn't an ultra violent b-movie that will cross over. There's no real creativity to it. I was hoping for The Raid or Taken but there was little more than some solid silly dialogue and John Wick walking into a place and shooting and fighting people and then heading somewhere else to do the exact same thing. It's for people who enjoy seeing people shot in the head from close range and straight-forward martial arts. Unfortunately, I'm not one of those people.

Of course, if you're into straight forward b-movie grade shoot 'em ups, have at it and ignore this post.
687644, is this movie an occidental tom yum goong?
Posted by bearfield, Sat Oct-25-14 02:37 PM
687646, Nonstop brutal action, loved every minute of it (spoilers)
Posted by Deebot, Sat Oct-25-14 04:41 PM
That home invasion scene was fucking dope, perfect way to set the tone of all the ass kicking in this movie.

Then the club scene comes shortly after and doesn't let up at all...I was digging the intense action with the backdrop of whatever soft music was playing in the basement. Definitely gonna check for that on the soundtrack.

One of my favorite parts was when Perkins got her hotel card revoked for breaking the rules....I started to get worried there for a second that the plot was gonna get too convoluted with her and Dafoe running around with all the other mayhem (no pun intended) going on, but they settled that down pretty nicely.
687649, Keanu Dogg is not the Boogeyman, he's the man you send to kill the fucking
Posted by Deebot, Sat Oct-25-14 07:36 PM
Boogeyman.
687650, "Oh" - I laughed harder at that than any comedy in 2014
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sat Oct-25-14 08:09 PM
don't fuck with john wick
687656, That's definitely one of the lines of the year.
Posted by SoulHonky, Sat Oct-25-14 11:16 PM
Although off the top of my head, Ice Cube in 22 Jump Street probably got the biggest laughs from me.
687695, RE: That's definitely one of the lines of the year.
Posted by nipsey, Mon Oct-27-14 10:35 AM
The whole theater (And it was packed on a Sunday Night at 7pm) erupted with laughter when he said that. That was some good isht.
687653, This shit was the best money!

687754, good flick, but man the score was fuckin terrible
Posted by kayru99, Mon Oct-27-14 10:13 PM
and I hate to be that guy complaining about that kind of shit, but the movie had a great look and feel, but the music was str8 up 80s cinemax action flick
687762, I dunno, I kinda liked that song that was playing in the basement
Posted by Deebot, Tue Oct-28-14 07:59 AM
of the club when Wick Dogg was shooting and stabbing up the place. "Think" by Kaleida. I usually like the contrast of action/violence with a softer song in the background, kinda reminded me of that scene in Spring Breakers when they were fucking people up during that Britney Spears song.
687763, I liked the movie
Posted by Boogiedwn, Tue Oct-28-14 09:03 AM
The score wasn't that bad to me I just wish they didn't use that goofy looking text for the Russian translations. If that's my only gripe about it - it's not a bad movie.

687912, It reminded me of Scott Pilgrim, for some reason.
Posted by JFrost1117, Thu Oct-30-14 02:34 PM
Hella cartoonish.
687765, it was supposed to be Driver-like

Posted by araQual, Thu Oct-30-14 11:30 PM
smoke a few grams and i was wide-eyed for the majority of it. really enjoyed the established world to which he returns. the amount of privelege he has at his disposal was amazing. and of course the ENDLESS.HEADSHOT-HEAVY.KILLING. holy crap.

and goddamn them for making that puppy so fucking cute. i hate i knew the premise of the flick before going in, cos i knew that moment was gonna come pretty early on, and im a dog-owner myself and a 'dog person', so seein that shit was just...man. even w/out the emotional connection i would lost my shit. espesh if i was....*dramatic pause*: JOHN.WICK. lol.

even the moments that shoulda been cheesy were somehow...not?

687924, Anyone else catch a slight Rockstar Games vibe from this?
Posted by Cold Truth, Fri Oct-31-14 12:31 AM
This shit had GTA written all over it. I've always wanted to see a GTA movie made and this is probably the closest we'll ever see, both style and content wise. I kept waiting for an Ammunation store to pop up somewhere, or some completely absurd radio commercial to come on.

I'm betting we get a sequel because there was some nice, subtle world building here that sort of demands further exposition. It stands on it's own but once he hit the Wet Work Hotel I wanted to know more about everything and everyone in the movie.

This felt like Payback, Kill Bill, GTA, Shoot 'Em Up, and Guy Ritchie (think Rock N Rolla) had an orgy and somehow tiny elements of all that DNA blended into a very stripped, bare bones baby with a bright future.

All in all this was the biggest and best surprise of the year. Summer was a bummer overall but damn have we had some great action flicks this year.

688390, Keanu was very handsome in this flick.

688528, Keanu doing Keanu and doing it WELL
Posted by SankofaII, Thu Nov-13-14 02:03 PM
John Wick was so fucking awesome!

Like, what revenge thrillers really NEED to be these days.

Everyone in the cast was pitch perfect and Adrianne Palicki as Ms. Perkins, good lord, someone start putting her in movies (um, whenever the female Expendables happens, she realistically proves she should be included in the cast with her work on John Wick, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the GI Joe sequel (shitty, but she was great in it)

So much fun to watch!!!!
688680, That red dress in the GI Joe sequel.
