i think he had to die because the writer wrote such a likeable villain
that they couldn't bear to give him a happily ever after, monogamous relationship
type of ending.
so they had to kill him.
but the ending seems so...
i dunno. forced?
and you really don't want to see him die.
but what else would have worked?
still, i wish he didn't die.
