684586, Read GENIUS and WICKED AND DIVINE and TREES #1's Posted by buckshot defunct, Thu Aug-28-14 01:11 PM
Genius has a damn interesting premise. The art has a cool quality at face value, but there's something fundamentally Posery about it that turns me off. Like a dope artist drawing over computer generated layouts, I dunno. Not quite as obvious as say, the couple of times I've seen Kyle Baker do it but frustrating in a similar way. If it's an aesthetic decision, it's not my bag. If it's a short cut... I relate to the perceived necessity but c'mon. Give me that real.
Wicked and Divine was gorgeous. And cool. Almost off-putting in how aggressively it pursues that cool... I couldn't fuck with Phonogram for similar reasons, but this feels a bit more accessible than that. We shall see.
Trees has a cool premise and atmosphere to it, and it could really go anywhere based on that first issue. Which could be a good or a bad thing.
