YOU said that Favreau was making a point about critics, how the film was a metaphor for directing/acting, etc.
IM saying that is hilariously ironic, given that 'Chef' was a cliche' heavy and melodramatic that followed a very safe unambitious formula.
So the film was more like Dustin Hoffman's character than it was like Jon Favreau's character. That is the definition of irony.
