They're both in the table tennis club and are very good at it, though Smile's personality prevents him from winning against Peko. The club teacher however notices Smile's talent and tries to make him gain some sportive tenacity.

I hope you're still watching Space Dandy. i'm 90% sure everythings gonna wrap up like Champloo.

Kill La Kill still dope.

what else is there? maybe we should do some revisits like The Lesson is doing with The Roots. Maybe an anime of the month deal. We old now tho so idk how much time ya'll got on your hands to sit and watch 26 eps of something. suggestions? it needs to be more lively in here.

674939, Space Dandy Season 2 Confirmed

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-03-22/space-dandy-2nd-anime-season-to-air-in-july-in-japan

The staff and cast of the Space Dandy anime confirmed at their AnimeJapan panel on Saturday that the second season will premiere in July in Japan. Although the members had previously indicated that the anime will last longer than a quarter of a year, the anime studio Bones had not officially announced the second season or its timeframe until now.

The story of the anime revolves around Dandy (Junichi Suwabe/Ian Sinclair), an alien-hunter. His job is to seek out new aliens never seen before, and receives a reward whenever he finds a new species. His mission is to find those new species faster than anyone else as he travels the galaxy. Together with the bucket-of-bolts robot QT (Uki Satake (9nine)/Alison Viktorin) and the dimwit alien Meow (Hiroyuki Yoshino/Joel McDonald) he picked up along the way, he comes into contact with new planets and their inhabitants.

Funimation is streaming the series online with Japanese audio, and the company also has home video rights for the series. The anime is premiering first on Adult Swim's Toonami block in the United States with an English dub, before it airs in Japan. Episode 13 is debuting next week.

First episode of Mushishi 2 was great, and it felt like the 7 year gap between S1 and S2 didn't exist. I really liked the song they chose for the opening (i.e., Lucy Rose - Shiver), and the music and visuals during the opening just perfectly captured the feel of the series: http://youtu.be/K0DegEdeCLs

the beginning of JoJo pt 3 is just as good as i remember from the books.

It is available on Crunchyroll.

It is very good. I am way behind these guys (I'm at about episode 105 of 135).

It interesting definitely. Takes a bit to get going. There are people with magical powers (called Nen), but the anime doesn't really introduce the concept of Nen until until like 30 episodes in. Then the show picks up our main characters train, get their powers and shit starts to pop off.

681839, Evangelion being one of five anime series I've ever finished…
Posted by will_5198, Tue Jul-08-14 01:37 PM
and loving it more than anything Ghost in the Shell or Cowboy Bebop…

and that includes the original ending, End of Evangelion, and first two Rebuild movies…

after finally watching 3.33, I have to say…that was one of the biggest pieces of shit I've ever seen. the only explanation is that Anno is focused on parodying his own work, trolling the fanbase to extremes I thought unimaginable. fan-service Mari. an eye patch on Asuka just because. so many undecipherable religious totems presented as plot, that even the most optimistic fan could not explain them.

and the capper, Shinji's dumbass nearly destroying the world *again* due to homoerotic tension. that last part is proof Anno has entrenched himself in the internet comments section, taking the widely held complaint that his anti-hero was an insufferable whiner and making sure that every single viewer hates him this time around.
681843, this makes me sad
Posted by Paps_Smear, Tue Jul-08-14 02:12 PM
Evangelion is one of my fav series of all time.

I keep hearing 3.33 is some shit, been waiting to cop on blu-ray but the damn thing got pushed back and now I have no idea when it's coming out.

Now I want to just watch the bootleg just because. Scared to do it now because I don't want this to ruin my view of this anime. UGH!
681851, yeah, I downloaded it for the exact reason
Posted by will_5198, Tue Jul-08-14 03:48 PM
I recently heard some mumbo jumbo about Funimation needing to fix a dub track now...and the US release could be in 2015.

lower your expectations further than you can imagine. it's only worth watching as an completionist act for Eva fans.
681865, you're killing me..
Posted by Paps_Smear, Tue Jul-08-14 07:39 PM
I have a serious love for evangelion and I tried to believe that the bad reviews were maybe people who didn't appreciate the series as much as I do.

This breaks my heart, man, for real.

WTF was he thinking by doing this?

I'm honestly scared to download it now

I'm waiting for 4.0 now, where I'm sure he's got a mega middle finger ending ready for all the die-hard fans. which of course, will be a riot to the long-time haters.

I browsed through some 3.33 FAQs afterward and *they* couldn't even explain the majority of shit that happened. Fourth Impact level trolling.

In the first two films, it seems like this new Shinji was stronger, less mopey, and actually somewhat likable than his original counterpart, unfortunately they pretty much took five steps backwards here. He's reverted back to his sorry self and then some. The middle portion of the film is just boring and rehashed all the pathetic Shinjiness that we've all seen plenty of already. I think I still enjoyed it though, the action scenes that bookend the Shinji stuff were quite exciting, even if I've no idea what that double lance shit was all about.

There were two guys on the Misato's ship and they looked quite like Spike & Jet...easter egg?
682491, can't forget about Rei, too

>then some. The middle portion of the film is just boring and
>rehashed all the pathetic Shinjiness that we've all seen
>plenty of already.

she went backwards to the point where she doesn't even realize she's a clone. and as great as it looks, I thought the action in the second half was much too frantic and hard to follow.

>There were two guys on the Misato's ship and they looked quite
>like Spike & Jet...easter egg?

I'm sure Anno has a secret Eva outfitted with a cigarette and loose tie that one of them will pilot in the finale, where they'll kill an angel with a handgun John-Woo-style.
682499, RE: can't forget about Rei, too
Posted by topaz, Sat Jul-19-14 09:04 PM
>she went backwards to the point where she doesn't even realize
>she's a clone.

I guess the Rei in 3.0 is a new clone so she didn't retain the personality of the previous one, which begs the question, WTF happened to the Rei that Shinji saved in 2.0?? And didn't Kaworu stop the 3rd Impact at the end of that one as well? I seriously thought Shinji went to some alternate universe at the start of the movie, like Unit 01 transported him to some bizarro parallel world that Shinji created...

I really liked that last shot of Shinji, Asuka and Rei walking together though.

>I'm sure Anno has a secret Eva outfitted with a cigarette and
>loose tie that one of them will pilot in the finale, where
>they'll kill an angel with a handgun John-Woo-style.

lol, I just hope the finale will be memorable, I'm sure some people will love it and others will hate it. It'll be great to know what transpired in those 14 years, but I wouldn't bet on getting any answers...

Knights is captivating mediocrity.

In terms of contemporary shows, it basically aspires to be Shingeki no Kyojin in Space, so the mortality rate of completely stock anime characters adds enough tension to keep things interesting. But the pacing is pretty shoddy, the main character is basically a void, and combat is generally a mess of hi-speed cuts, tentacles, and people crying.

683684, Not exactly current, but Psycho-Pass!
Posted by Auk_The_Blind, Sun Aug-10-14 05:46 PM
I was surprised at how well the show synthesized its explicit sources (Philip K. Dick, etc...) without feeling burdened by my awareness of whatever was being referenced, and even the philosophical monologues didn't feel unbearably overwrought. The villains were on-point, every protagonist other than the female Enforcer seemed to get a good amount of characterization, and the story always felt like it was making progress.

Excited to see whether they can craft a coherent second season.
683685, nah they OD'd on the monologues

that shit damn near got to be a radio drama at times. once they got to the main story it was dope though.

i really have to catch up on Hunter x Hunter....i'm way behind...i'm still trying to digest the election storyline, which i've read, but don't remember....

been reading the Akame Ga Kill manga, but i haven't been watching the anime...i'll catch up this weekend when i go on mini vacation...love the manga though

....SAO is THAT show!!! man i love this anime....i'm still finishing part one ( i think i've got 4 eps left)...i think the cousin's feelings for the homie are weird, but it's anime so i'm not totally suprised...

lastly, WHY did they stop making Black Lagoon???...it's SOOOO awesome.....

Crazy psychological, hilariously ecchi & unpredictable.

Anybody else watching it?

684326, Terror In Resonance

I was a little shaky on this show after the first ep. but oddly enough, when the police get introduced and the procedural aspects take over, it really began to grow on me. Mostly because of how the tension between the detectives and the returning genius investigator slowly reveals their personalities and motivations.

As for the main duo of teenagers, getting their backstory gradually over the first four eps. made the introduction of 5 much more intense. Watanabe is determined to do something different at each go around and initial fears that this was just some teen angst drama was quickly washed away.

Was loving it until 5 got introduced.
She took away a bit of these suspense on knowing if the duo were serious with their attacks or not. Still good so I'll stick with it.
684373, Not sure it's fair to say they aren't "serious"
Posted by Auk_The_Blind, Mon Aug-25-14 02:59 PM
Though they may have some ethical foundation that means they would like to avoid unnecessary deaths, it seems pretty clear they accept that people can and will die by their actions.

That said, I do generally agree that the introduction of Five seems like it may be a mistake for the show's tone. She's a bit too much of an histrionic ANIME SUPERVILLAIN plopped into a show that aspired to be something a bit more grounded.
684409, They made it clear in their first two missions.

They went through extreme lengths to make sure no one would get hurt.

Along with the flashbacks and the fact that the chief clearly has an idea of who they're really gunning after or at least the program that produced them, there's a lot more story and revelations to be covered.

Especially when you consider that whoever is pulling the strings behind the scenes in the government is more than willing to sacrifice civilians to get them.
684410, Same. Things just turned really cliche and bad

once 5 got introduced. Everything from her design to character type bugs me. A shame especially given how great I thought episode 4 was.
684752, Aldnoah Zero has been GREAT so far...

ill story line, strong characters, and they not afraid to kill people off. The mix of anime & CG can be blah at times, but all and all this is a solid show. Shocked its not getting more attention.

684891, this fool Inaho be on some other shit.

my dude got 1 emotion and a million plans. they need to explain why he got so much battle swag
685475, Fell apart in the last few episodes
Posted by Auk_The_Blind, Sat Sep-20-14 08:08 PM
They basically just hit fast-forward and dedicated themselves to crafting the most anticlimactic tragic ending they could.

I guess there's supposed to be a second half? Might have been useful to tell a story that made viewers care what happens next.
