If you share my eagerness to see Spike Jonze‘s new film Her (check out the trailer here), we’re both going to have to wait a little longer. Warner Bros. believes they could have an awards contender on their hands, and they want to give it a better position in the Oscar race. According to Box Office Mojo, the studio is moving the film, which is about a man (Joaquin Phoenix) who falls in love with his computer (voiced by Scarlett Johansson), from November 20th to a limited release in New York, L.A., and Toronto on December 18th before going wide on January 10th. The movie is currently skipping the Venice Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival to be the closer at the New York Film Festival in October.

Although Her is only opening in limited release, it will still share December 18th with George Clooney‘s fellow awards-contender The Monuments Men, and the weekend with Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. As for January 10th, it has to face off against in Jason Reitman‘s Labor Day and Peter Berg‘s Lone Survivor, which are also expanding.
