644442, Halle Berry...box-office star
Posted by Basaglia, Mon Mar-18-13 11:59 AM
Steve Carrell...poison (and it bombed because there wasn't enough jim dogg to carry it...that's not my opinion, that's the fact's opinion)

there was no way in hell i was lettin this slide after all the hate halle got over the years, combined with the unwarranted cysage of that guy. he ruined jim dogg's franchise and he ruined what could have been a great movie with his horrible comedic acting. NOPE! i don't care that he's a good guy. ALL the wayans are good guys. y'all say they suck tho.

jim dogg bout to take his spot back with KA2 and dumb and dumber. Da Gawd gonna show all these dudes how to do this.

644447, 17th time's a charm!

644450, So Wonderstone aint worth seeing?
Posted by Deebot, Mon Mar-18-13 01:13 PM
644482, I've heard it's charming, the writers just weren' up for it
Posted by Nodima, Mon Mar-18-13 07:02 PM
Based on the previews I thought this movie looked horrible, but what I've been hearing over the weekend is it's the sort of comedy you want to be watching at home on Netflix, absentmindedly doing some other task. And that it'd be perfect for that 'cause Carrey and Carrell cut it up, but Buscemi just doesn't have good enough material to do what he does (you know, ACT, because he's not a natural comedian obviously) and the story loses the plot in all the gags.

644452, Sidebar: How do folks feel about Olivia Wilde?
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Mon Mar-18-13 01:24 PM
I dig her in comedic joints. She's got the Jennifer Aniston comedy appeal.

644456, She doesn't do much for me
Posted by Dae021, Mon Mar-18-13 01:56 PM
I feel like folks like her because they're supposed to think she's beautiful, but she just doesn't move me.

As an actress or a beauty
644471, I'm not too hyped up on her looks. She looks like...
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Mon Mar-18-13 03:53 PM
every other white chick in movies to me.
644462, I *loved* her in Butter, she was funny as hell

644470, Yep, she was great in Butter

Seen her on the Daily Show a couple of times too, and thought, this chick is naturally funny.
644484, only thing I've ever seen is flipping channels past the O.C.
Posted by Nodima, Mon Mar-18-13 07:12 PM
back in the day. I got no idea what she's about other than she's pretty, smart and has a cool family (right? feel like that got mentioned on the Daily Show)

644458, Steve Carrell is actually not funny
Posted by Tiger Woods, Mon Mar-18-13 02:19 PM
the 40 year old virgin character was funny and Michael Scott was funny but this actor is actually not a very funny dude.
644460, Spot on....when he's good, it's because of the writing
Posted by Deebot, Mon Mar-18-13 02:22 PM
In real life, from interviews I've seen and whatnot, he comes off as a complete stiff with very little personality. Dude was just on Conan a few nights ago acting like a robot.
644463, I'll provide additional backup for this movement--roll out.

644483, really? Even Stephven?

He's basically Jason Bateman, I'll buy that, but he's a great straight man. And his most iconic comedic characters have played on that by turning the straight man into the idiot. That's what made Brick Tamland so genius to me. He was the straight man in the group but that meant he couldn't express himself at all in the bizarro world that Will and Adam created.

644608, can you play a funny character for 7 years without being funny?
Posted by pretentious username, Wed Mar-20-13 09:04 AM
I highly doubt it.
644617, Kelsey Grammar isn't particularly funny
Posted by SoulHonky, Wed Mar-20-13 10:36 AM
And he played Frasier Crane forever and was Sideshow Bob.

I think Carrell is a good comedic actor but not a comic. He's not a guy you can put in a crap movie and he'll make it funnier with his performance. And his often muted style might actually make some of his movies less funny than if a more outwardly funny actor took the role.

He's most certainly not a leading man but, in the right role, he can give a great performance. He's just not a guy that I necessarily think owns any roles.

644771, I'm confused. Is this post about Halle Berry or Steve Carell?
Posted by Anfernee, Thu Mar-21-13 08:20 PM
I like them both, but they make pretty lame choices in movies.
644826, it's actually about Jim Carrey
Posted by gumz, Fri Mar-22-13 02:20 PM
644836, Will Smith.
Posted by pretentious username, Fri Mar-22-13 03:34 PM
644858, I'm pretty sure it's about Keanu Reeves.
Posted by Anfernee, Fri Mar-22-13 07:52 PM
644889, It was about Halle. Its now about being mad.

644948, Yeah, Jim Carrey was the only funny thing in this movie

Shit was terrible but Jim made you laugh every time he appeared on the screen.
645153, The Call was dope.
Posted by bwood, Tue Mar-26-13 12:13 PM
It was refreshing to see a black female carry a movie for once. And she was a strong female character at that. Also good to see a good black cop for once who has a large role and doesn't die.

I dont care for her nor her movies but I am the grand prize winner for the call movie in which I am giving her new perfume to my mother and if my mother doesnt want it, ill give it to my girlfriend. from viewing the trailer, the call doesnt look all that good.
