and even that is fairly decent. all the other die hards are great. can't wait

went to see it with the missus this morning, and apparently they didnt line up the projector right because we couldnt see the bottom of the film which means we didnt get to see any subtitles for all the Russian that was spoken in the movie. We went to ask them to fix it and they said there was something wrong with the print, which I thought was bullshit because studios dont send prints of movies anymore, they're all digital.

Anyway, the action was OK, not up to the previous films' standards, I just would have liked to know what was actually being said instead of trying to infer from reading folks' expressions and the actions that followed.....

*forgot to add, the theater did give us free passes for another movie, which was cool because we only paid $6 each for the morning matinee and we can use our passes to come back to a night showing.....

I will ride for pretty much any of the regulars on Spartacus, but I don't think I can go see this piece of shit movie. I read someone describe him as a "low-rent Sam Worthington" which is about the meanest fucking thing I've ever read, and I'm hoping it's not true.

oh Courtney was great in jack reacher. i'm going to see this tomorrow and i'll report back and let you know if that above comment about him being a low rent sam worthington is true or not...

i mean, sam worthington is a low rent jai courtney to be honest because courtney shows *WAY* more chops in what he's done as compared to Worthington, who ain't shit on film. (Fuck that SOMERSAULT shit..*that* that was a fluke re. him actually turning in a credible and good performance)...

real talk, who's really got presence from spartacus to make it in movies now that the show is over?

honest question...

I dig Spartacus but most of the actors on the show are solid character actors who will not be carrying movies at all.

And that's okay...nothing wrong with being a character actor: ask Viola Davis. Ask Don Cheadle. ask Jacki Weaver. ask Cate Blanchett (she leads movies, but she really is a character actress who carries movies and STEALS movies as a character actress), etc.

but, will we see Manu Bennett staring in the next summer blockbuster? Nick Tarabay? Will Cynthia Addai-Robinson?

not knocking anyone on the show but I don't see them jumping into the big leagues from this show.

Doing more steady work and popping up in more films and tv shows from here on out on both sides of the pond? Definitely.

but big leagues films and what not? Nah.

as for Jai: he's not horrible, but at the moment, he's lacking some serious presence for anyone to take him seriously as an up and coming action star.

Lets see him in some smaller, grittier dramas and see how he does, then let's revisit him being a 'star'.

I think his turn opposite Joel Edgerton in the Aussie crime thriller FELONY, and a role in I, FRANKENSTEIN should up his profile maybe.

And, don't get me wrong...I want him to win. Because if Sam Worthington's low rent ass can get movies, then Courtney can definitely get roles on more talent...

cause, though Die Hard was horrible with a decent final act, he didn't really stand out to me and it was still the bruce willis show.

and he really wasn't much in Jack Reacher, though he was oddly more interesting than Tom Cruise, which isn't saying much at all. and Courtney was the stock baddie.

not liking these responses, i was lookin forward to this.

If you hold the franchise to a high standard, you'll likely hate it.

If you don't hold it to a high standard and just want to see gritty action with people swearing, this will likely be passable for you. The foundation for a fine action film is in the jumbled poorly edited mess somewhere.

This wasn't a "Die Hard" movie.

It was a quick trip to the ATM for Bruce Willis.

The villains was nowhere NEAR the A-level of intelligence and scheming you've see in the previous 4 movies.

The first 20 min had potential, but once they went on foot, shit stopped making sense.

"It will nullify the effects of radiation"

Thank God I used I used a "Free Coupon" to see this horse manure.

I'm saving up my money for the rest of this summer's movies.

Honestly, the biggest pre-release red flag for me was the 97-minute run time

This movie was not, in any way, a suitable way to continue the adventures of John McClane and the Die Hard brand

I get that Die Hard 3 eschewed that in some ways, but not really. He was still up against it and making due.


The last one, and from what I can tell this one, paint the McClane family as some sort of Incredibles squad that defeats evil for a living.

The dialogue felt like stuff that was thrown in for a placeholder while writing in a kind of, "I'll go back and punch that up later" and then just was never improved. Not only was the dialogue bland, it was repeated over and over. How many times did he make the "I'm on vacation" joke. It was never funny and it wasn't like he was really on a relaxing vacation to begin with.

After this and Jack Reacher, I'm not seeing the buzz for Jai Courtney.

Just a bland movie. Part of me still thinks that they hired Moore and Woods to tank so they can reboot Die Hard sooner than later.

honestly, it seemed as if someone shot a car chase and 2 shoot outs and yelled "that's a wrap."

with the addition/inclusion of john jr., one might expect that they'd at least give the franchise a chance @ rebirth for the next generation. instead, you're left with the feeling that the suits simply enjoy coming up with catchy titles that include the name "die hard."
