581316, The Office. S8. Posted by will_5198, Fri Sep-23-11 10:59 AM
I thought the premiere was pretty great. Rainn Wilson keeps putting this show on his back (the anti-planking part, SHIT) and I've warmed up to Spader.

581366, Better than I expected Posted by OldPro, Fri Sep-23-11 03:13 PM
Smart move making Spader the new CEO... this way they can give us that character in small doses. _________________________________ Reunion Radio Podcasts Bringing Together Five Decades of R&B/Funk/Soul/Dance

581375, I loved when Andy was rattling off all the "losers" credentials Posted by CMcMurtry, Fri Sep-23-11 03:46 PM
And using Stanley's adulterous ways as a selling point lol.

581419, great potential Posted by sevencents, Sat Sep-24-11 09:41 AM
I thought this first episode is great and is heading in a good direction.
I think the show is now much more of an ensamble piece, which is cool because it will give a lot of the sub-characters more shine.
Robert California is such a brilliant character, and I love him calling out all the losers of the office (especially Pam)
I also like the decision to make Andy the new Scranton manager. He has some of the same goofy cluelessness as Michael Scott, yet is way more self-aware so he doesn't get into the same level of embarrassing situations....although, we'll see....

581431, great premiere, getting away from Michael Scott (without the Posted by Bombastic, Sat Sep-24-11 01:32 PM
overdone stunt-cast soul-crushingly unfunny Will Ferrell diversion of late last season) is going to extend the life of this show.

581433, No more Kathy Bates? Posted by Wordup, Sat Sep-24-11 02:18 PM
im probably the only one on here that liked her
|
581441, She has her own show now Posted by THRILLHOUSE, Sat Sep-24-11 03:31 PM
Probably didn't have time to do both Harrys Law and Office. I thought she was ok on the office, but Spaders character has a lot more potential.

581468, Andy telling pam to keep her chins up lol Posted by silentnoah, Sun Sep-25-11 01:40 AM

582626, Definitely better without Michael Scott Posted by AZ, Sun Oct-02-11 07:05 PM

"SoHo is mainly lofts, but OK." Ryan has been pretty funny since the end of last season.

587923, Why the fuck is Gabe still on the show?? Posted by topaz, Thu Nov-10-11 05:34 AM
And why would they dedicate a whole story on that character?

587955, ...I think I'm done. Posted by Ryan M, Thu Nov-10-11 12:52 PM
I've faithfully watched 7 seasons of this show, and have given it the benefit of the doubt for the last 1.5 or so. It's run it's course. Which is fine. I mean, having 5 quality seasons, which it really did, is tough for any show to accomplish. But I just don't care anymore.
There are some funny moments I guess. But overall? Nah, I'm out.

587957, I just don't like Ed Helms anymore. Posted by dgonsh, Thu Nov-10-11 01:02 PM
I feel like the Hangover 2 has tarnished anything he does for me.

587967, Ya this show will have a good spot in history Posted by Y2Flound, Thu Nov-10-11 03:00 PM
Not the GOAT comedy, but was easily the best comedy on TV for a few years.
Office was must see TV for 4 or 5 seasons, had to get online and get all the good quotes the next day, update facebook statuses about how great it was.
But now it's time for it to go.

It still has more good moments than most shows, even if it's not appointment TV anymore.

600787, Get ready to say so long to Robert California (swipe) Posted by ZooTown74, Mon Feb-27-12 11:35 PM
variety.com:
>James Spader won't return for more 'Office'
Studio grants actor's request to exit By ANDREW WALLENSTEIN
James Spader will not return to 'The Office' next season, according to sources.
The network confirmed the Emmy-winning actor isn't going to return for a ninth season of the NBC series, a decision made at the actor's behest.
"James always wanted this to be a one-year arc, and he now leaves us having created one of the most enigmatic and dynamic characters in television," said "Office" executive producer Paul Lieberstein. "He's been a great friend to me and the show, helping us successfully transition into the post-Michael Scott years, and I'm grateful for that."
Spader was brought in full-time last September as the enigmatic CEO Robert California after a memorable turn in the previous season's star-studded finale. Though deemed a series regular, his contract called for him to appear in a mininum of 15 episodes, with an option for more if necessary.
Spader stepped into "Office" during a season that marked the series first without star Steve Carell, though he wasn't replacing Carell. He was taking over for Kathy Bates, who previously played CEO before going off to anchor another NBC series, "Harry's Law."
Unknown is whether Spader's character will be written out of the show this season or whether his departure will be explained next year.

600911, This Tallahassee storyline brought the show back from a coma Posted by Nodima, Tue Feb-28-12 04:42 PM
Consistently hilarious like the old days, it's kind of a shame they'll have to go back though I wonder what happens with the girl trying to sleep with Jim back at the Office

608531, u fuckers are really funny w/those OKs next your names, I swear Posted by Grand_Royal, Sat Apr-28-12 04:09 PM
Anyway...
I really thought Michael's departure hurt the show, but it has gotten better since Nellie arrived. Without the focus being on Michael and Jim & Pam's relationship, the whole ensemble has started to shine. Everyone has been funny, but Ryan, Nellie and Dwight have been on fire. I also like when Kevin is more "lucid" and he calls people out; most times he's TOO stupid.
Do yourself and watch the last episode(nbc.com has it too), it is the funniest that I can remember.

610031, Frank Sobotka! Posted by topaz, Wed May-09-12 12:05 AM
Good to see another actor from The Wire on the show.
I ran through a lot of eps yesterday, some random thoughts: * Best thing about this show is still the Jim & Dwight dynamic. * The Andy + Erin relationship is terrible and cringeworthy. I know they want this to be Jim & Pam Pt 2, but Andy and Erin are just too unlikable and annoying. * The Andy getting fired plotline is too similar to the Michael Scott Paper Company arc, only way less entertaining. * Nellie is somewhat ok, more interesting than Andy at least. Perhaps they'll make her a regular next season if they're renewing it. * Robert California's magic has worn off. The phone convo ether he gave Andy was great though. * Cathy was good if only for the ep where she was trying to seduce Jim, that girl was easy on the eyes.

610407, Anyone watch the finale? *SPOILERS* Posted by topaz, Sat May-12-12 09:11 AM
Can someone explain to me why David Wallace was able to re-purchase Dunder Mifflin without going through Robert first? Doesn't he have a say in the buyout? Is Jo still the majority owner or something?
I hope when Rainn Wilson leaves to do his spinoff it will mean the end of this show, The Office without Dwight will be terribly boring.
