542148, Unstoppable (Scott, 2010)
Posted by Frank Longo, Sat Nov-13-10 10:06 PM
Am I really the only one who saw this?

This is a good old-fashioned thrill ride, Tony Scott's best film in years. Quality performances from the leads, quality script, and quality execution that lacked Tony Scott's usual blurry jumpcut antics for the most part.

The final thirty minutes are really exciting. My theater applauded at one point in the film-- a good sign that audiences are gonna dig this.

I wasn't excited to see it... but it works. Check it out.
542154, Like you, I wasn't very excited to see it either, but was glad I did.

i wasn't interested in the least, but i'm hearing its good. surprising since the premise seems so straight forward and not much could happen.
542198, but how was Rosario Dawson (for bluetiger)
Posted by SankofaII, Sun Nov-14-10 09:23 PM
(bluetiger: BAM! I GOT YOU, SON! :) LOL!)

I am going to see this...i still can't believe they shot this all last fall in, around and near Pittsburgh...

I thought the Rosario Dawson sightings all around town were bogus...damn, and I coulda seen her up close and personal?! #FAIL

542200, Glad I decided to watch it.

Posted by forte, Mon Nov-15-10 09:08 AM
than i thought it would. only reason i saw it was because the other movie i wanted to see was sold out (skyline). having said that this was a pretty good action packed flick.
542270, Surprisingly a really good actioner. Glad I saw it.

..considerin' the cast, the director, and the plot

*granted, its based on true story. i recognize that there's only so much you can do to stretch a story like this one (which makes you wonder whether or not this was worth bringin' to the big screen?)

admittedly, i was bored with the dialogue. the continual referencin' of "..this train is REALLY dangerous..." was annoyin' (ITS A MISSLE THE SIZE OF THE CHRYSLER BUILDING!). the "ol' school-meets new school" dialogue btwn washington & pine didn't really work, and the backstory for pine's character was weak. the same can be said for denzel's character and the scenes/convos with his daughters.

i think the cast did a decent job with a limited script.

*technical annoyance:

the final solution employed in the film --- this was my FIRST thought/suggestion once the problem occurred. i'm not railroad engineer, but why did it take them THAT long to figure out?

again, that's just my logical/practical side rearin' its ugly head in the world of entertainment *shrug*

ah well, i didn't walk away impressed or disappointed.

not great, not bad, just average...

i think mainly because for the first half of the trip the train was moving through more rural area and there was no parallel road in which a vehicle could reach that speed in time to get to the front car. that's why they tried to lower the guy from the heli instead.
542478, even if that were the case...

***SPOILER ALERT***

..chasin' down the train on the same track (which they eventually did), linking, then walkin' to the front of the train made more sense than any of the other foolish ideas they had.

*i was also bothered by the fact that they made it seem like you HAVE to jump from car to car, when you have the option to climb over (since each car is ATTACHED).

*shrug*

I wish I could put this movie on my SLA ballot but the excessive direction prevents that from happening. The movie is satisfying and annoying.
555508, the funniest film of 2010, hands down

Big Tony Scott fan and while this lacked this over the top visual imagination, it did have his usual forced emotional interest... pine with his wife and being a hero and denzel with his daughters... that felt so unnecessary but they needed something obviously...

overall... acting was good story was cool but just didnt find myself caring

...was it beliveable? HELL NO, but it's a fun movie to watch..and it did, twice in a row

only thing...i didn't see Rosario's boss as the bad guy at all...just the corporate stooge....he didn't wanna listen to her cause he's management and figured he knew better...every company has these people...they're not neccessarily horrible people, just the kind that are assholes and don't care about lower level imput...the bigwigs at the company happily went along wit what he was initially doing...it just didn't work....the real "bad guy" of the movie was Dewey, the train guy who sets the whole thing in motion....
