For some odd reason, I thought maybe it would be good... until he put on the CGI cape, which will be the single moment in which anything good about this show goes right out the window, lol.

the CGI cape was pretty bad, and it looks like some kind of weird filtering of Batman and Punisher or something like that.

personally, I like my superheroes to discover their innate craziness closer to childhood, but I mean, "generic revenge story" isn't all bad.

... like Heroes, than I won't watch it. But if this actually turns out to be a decent action series where things happen and characters develop somewhat rationally, then I will give it AT LEAST as much of a chance as I did Heroes.

ive been saying for years that a decent budget batman tv series done right would kick ass

but hell it doesnt even have to be batman
pick any marvel or dc superhero
that way they dont have to continuously rape shit in movie form

even a fantastic four tv show would be potentially great

I wish they'd do a Batman series Smallville style, but without the corniness and terrible writing. lol But you know. Life before the cowl. The training leading up to it. etc.

We said that most modern super-heroes took the deconstructionist and post-modern approach to the super-hero genre, this one goes the straight-faced, earnest route, and it suffers.

I'm not sure we was implying that post-modern should always be the way to go though.

yeah, its that bad. Ill give it one more shot, but that pilot was VERY spotty. I hope that this pile doesn't discourage them from making a good superhero show. Heroes was promising.

it's HARD to make a believable superhero in TV.

The cape swinging was corn ball.

I will check this just for her; I think she rocked a short skirt in just about every scene she was in.

Otherwise, it was spotty and all over the place, most of it was incredibly corny and cliched, but it had its moments. I will give it at least a few eps. I enjoyed the cast, as well. A few familiar faces.

....yeah, it could be a lot better, but most of these 'hero' shows aren't done way they should.....I'll give it more time to develop....honestly, I liked the 2nd ep without the cape more....

Is that you have to have a director/show runner who is a comic book fiend. The biggest disasters in comic book movies/shows have been when the directors or show creators weren't die hard comic book people.

Look, montages are great for say, showing a boxer become an even better boxer. Or a rag tag group of misfits prepare for a softball tournament. Or perhaps even a couple, falling in love. Like, they're okay if you're getting good at ONE thing. ONE.

This fool became an expert in hypnosis, acrobatics, mixed martial arts, magic tricks and fabric trickery, all in under 3 minutes. Now come on.

In the train scene they reveal the big bad guy then do a flashback to a scene that was like 5 minutes before.

they do that because to HONESTLY flesh out the growth would really take about 3 to 4 (maybe even 5 if you deal with the wife/son issues of seeing daddy/hubby blown up on FUCKING TV!) eps to DEAL with but NBC does NOT have that patience.

they would have cancelled that shit.

seriously, with all the grit and "reality" based programming, who wants niggas flying around with capes and gadgets and shits (besides us fanboys and fangirls alike).

first of all, monday is a RIDICULOUSLY rough timeslot for new shows to go into. Chuck needed subway and a legion of people to keep it going.

they need to let dude take out fleming and get back with his family, reinstated on the force, and STILL be the cape. to fill in the gaps for where his police work can't.

but a perpetual story where dude is constantly in the dark and his family forever longing.....gets exhausting.
