499514, RED CLIFF (a John Woo film)

A true masterpiece of John Woo's...I've always been a fan of his. This 5 hour film had me floored...It's not playing everywhere, so if it is coming to your town it is a must see. Please try to view the Director's cut...but I hear they are making 2 1/2 hour cut to release in the U.S.

This is beyound any kung fo picture...It is the art of war acted out on the screen in the most beautiful way ever! Warriors of that mistify you, as you watch their body count pile up under their weapons that drip with the enemies blood. Speaking of blood. All of the battle scenes have blood spraying you all in your face, daaaaammmmmm!

John Woo's direction has always been great with films like 'FACE OFF'...the countless Chow Yun Phat films. This joint right here...takes you beyound your own imagination.
499517, I saw the 2 1/2 hour cut

it was ok, didn't think it was that great though. Is the director's cut really five hours? I'd give it a shot, but damn that's pretty long.

It's five hours, but they do a break after 2 1/2 hours...The turtle formation battle scene... one of the battles ever!

I was wondering if that cut still had the part where they used the sun light as a weapon, sweet shit!
499525, watched it last month

I kinda wish folks'd move away from costume period pieces, but this is prob the best of that genre I've seen in a while

It's the kinda period when people's still had fighting skills...instead of a big ass gun, or bomb...or kick ya ass and shoot you!! Where you got to use the art of war to defeat your enemies!
508915, The 2-part international version out on DVD next week

They add up to 4 hours and 40 minutes or thereabouts. I didn't see the 2 1/2 hour version.
508923, I saw this when it came to the District a while back

thought it was good, but not great. still i'm a sucker for long-ass movies so i probably would watch the five-hour version.
508938, 5+ hour version...

The 5 hour version is obviously the way to go.

Never seen the 2+ hour version, but the 5 hour version borders on greatness...it's just epic filmmaking. And almost makes me forgive Woo for his US films...minus Hard Target and Face Off.

I liked it. I was pretty interested throughout the entire film, though I'll admit I don't think I would've been able to tolerate the 5+ hour version.
524441, oh word? I'm watching that tonight.

i caught the preview on the front end of bronson and was intrigued. did some research and saw the 5 hour version is what you want to see according to most folks.

My favorite character was KongMing. Dude didnt even carry a sword and was a true student of war.

General Gan had me laughing cause he had the sname snarling sneer on his face the whole movie. He went out like a G in the end too.
