478985, If YOU had the power to wipe 5 MOVIES out
Posted by ILL FLOW, Fri Oct-02-09 01:37 PM
If YOU had the power to wipe 5 MOVIES out of existence...

What would they be. and i mean, like they NEVER EVER were made. NEVER thought of... and NEVER sucked.

mine:

Blade: Trinity
Elektra
Street Fighter
Mortal Kombat Annihilation
Starship Troopers 2

Matrix Reloaded
Matrix Revolutions
Star Wars Episode I
Star Wars Episode II
Star Wars Episode III (I realize this one isn't bad, but it's lumped in)

Basically, The Matrix should of been left alone, and the only Star Wars movies that should of come out first were direct sequels to the original trilogy, and then he could of done prequels down the line. At least if Lucas had tried direct sequels, he could of tried to use the same actors (Hammill, Fischer, Ford).
478993, I like Street Fighter :-(
Posted by xbenzive, Fri Oct-02-09 01:59 PM
for it's very bad cast, campy dialogue, wack character developments or lack there of and JCVM motivation speech!! How anyone hating this is surprising. I do agree with your other choices.

Posted by ImPerfectNick, Fri Oct-02-09 11:36 PM
Shit was sad
479088, Cinema would be so much different w/o "Birth of a Nation," though...
Posted by Mole, Fri Oct-02-09 11:44 PM
Obviously the racism is reprehensible but it's a reflection of America at the time, and as a historical artifact it's important. It's lasting legacy on the actual art of filmmaking gives it the right to exist, IMO.
Same could be said of "Triumph of the Will," actually.

Star Wars Prequels? Eh, not so much. (Yes, George Lucas -- Jar Jar Binks is more objectionable than Hitler.)
479136, battleship potemkin better tho

I like Halle but that movie was too poorly done for her to save.

479080, Are all 5 Haggis'? Or would you also eliminate one of Cronenberg's?
Posted by Frank Longo, Fri Oct-02-09 10:50 PM
479150, I don't think he means the Cronnenberg one.
Posted by BigWorm, Sat Oct-03-09 03:50 PM
I mean, sleazy James Spader gets it on with Roseanna Arquette's leg wound.

Where else are you going to see that kind of thing? Right?

But seriously folks. Both Crashes were no good. But the first one at least has a home in the hearts of preverts everywhere. We could probably do without that other one. As far as I know, the second Crash only taught us what everyone already knows--that everyone in this country is racist in their own little way. Except for Latinos.

use' Haggis' as an adjective for bad?

Haggis is fucking delicious!

(off to the shops to buy one after reading this)
479095, The real correct answer is probably the Saw franchise.....
Posted by rorschach, Sat Oct-03-09 01:34 AM
Since its success is one of the things keeping our horror movies several grades below the Asian and some of the European horror movies.

Just because it's a horror movie doesn't mean it can't still be a good film. The greatest horror movies ever are among the greatest films ever.

479096, Eff what you heard, Saw I was a good ass film
Posted by Wrongthink, Sat Oct-03-09 02:19 AM
As a horror film, that shit was really top notch. Think about the scene where the girl was afraid that there was someone in the closet, then she looks in the closet but that part of the screen is blacked out completely...that shit was a really good and scary film, it just spawned garbage and media attention is all.
479125, RE: Eff what you heard, Saw I was a good ass film
Posted by ILL FLOW, Sat Oct-03-09 10:37 AM
I'll agree.

the first Saw was actually a GREAT detective film IMO but after that...

it just got bad...
479134, That's really the only reason I included the first one....
Posted by rorschach, Sat Oct-03-09 12:54 PM
I still don't understand why they couldn't keep the quality of the first one. I actually don't hate that one either...I just really hate what it spawned.

479424, so many to choose from
Posted by B9, Mon Oct-05-09 11:56 AM
Charlies Angels (I think the world could have done without the artistic styles and copy cats of pointless slowmo McG has cursed us with, and maybe Drew Barrymore would have slumped into whocaresdom for good)

The Fast & The Furious (first one...horrible genre birther, could have saved us from Biker Boys, subsequent Fast & Furious movies, elevating suburban g culture to something legit...)

Suburban Commando (wrestler-turns-movie-star went off the tracks here; for every one Dwayne Johnson there are too many John Cena's and now WWE is producing more and more absolute crap movies to push these hacks on us...then again, hulk on a skateboard was great/horrible)

Masters of the Universe (first time I can remember really really being let down by a movie and should have been the prototype for why cartoons don't work as live action; Skeletor was just some old guy? and you're just going to invent a sidekick for comedic purposes?)

Godfather 3 (needs no explanation)

Another You (our last Gene Wilder movie is a horrible redux of the Gene and Richard formula that cheapens their better films into some sort of marketing schlock)

Def Jam's How to be a Playa (Bill Bellamy talks to a camera about a series of highly impossible situations and low morality in a way that made Master P say "I can make movies like thus, uhhhhhhhhh"...Robert Townsend bedamned, Starz in Black or BET would never be the same. Fuck you, Russel)

Tin Cup (first clue that Kevin Costner had officially lost his mind and relevance and also a source of too much unfunny golf humor that has haunted every public golf course in America)

The Killing Fields (just because, as fantastic as a movie it is, it had some images in it that remain the most disturbing things I've ever seen because they were real; fuck Saw and all that, this shit happened, people LIVED this)

479481, RE: If YOU had the power to wipe 5 MOVIES out

OKAY...

since people in here are acting like they can't pull out the HARD HITTING BAD MOVIES.

Gigli - shouldn't have been made
Spice World - shouldn't have been made
Super Mario Bros. - shouldn't have been made
Anything with LARRY THE CABLE GUY - shouldn't have been made
479581, Super Mario Bros.
Posted by xbenzive, Mon Oct-05-09 08:17 PM
actually stayed true to the source material, the problem is that the visual effects and acting sucked. I didn't mind the story. I can imagine a Pushing Daisies-esque type of film. Either Jean-Pierre Jeunet or Michel Gondry would be great to direct.

they just don't fit in BLADE.

plus the story was horrible!

HORRIBLE!
