At least it had creative deaths. lol

But, I feel you to some degree.

But imo opinion if you are gonna re-envision a franchise with a multimillion dollar budget and a prominent Hollywood player putting his name behind it, you should maybe take the franchise to the next level. Making Jason faster and taking away the mystique or supernatural elements away from the original by explaining an underground tunnel system is not being innovative to me. It just makes me think the director was biting "Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon."

To me there is an art to even B-grade horror films. They usually have really low budgets, so the creativity of the effects and make-up are usually a big part of it. Also they way people die is a big part of the appeal of these types of movies. The liquid nitrogen face smash in Jason X is a perfect example. All the creative ways Freddy killed his victims throughout the Elm Street films. Those are what make those films great to me. They had very little and did a lot with it.

This movie HAD money and yet it still had bad acting and relatively poor execution. There were maybe 1 or 2 creative deaths. Nothing felt like it was in the spirit of the original franchise at all tome.

And in the end, the movie was boring.
Slow moving and boring.
And every little nod to the original was so trite and on some wink-wink nudge nudge type shit.

Just because I like slasher films does not mean I am begging for my intelligence to be insulted.

*shrug*
