464408, Gary Oldman says the next Batman starts shooting next year
Posted by ZooTown74, Fri Jul-24-09 01:33 PM
Apparently this was at Comic-Con

Info from a Twitter post (and a friend of mine who is there)

>Gary Oldman says they start shooting the next Batman next year and gets wild applause. He adds "but you didn't hear that from me"

464409, Hope you told your friend to STOP SNITCHIN!

464411, Ha!
Posted by ZooTown74, Fri Jul-24-09 01:37 PM
Speaking of snitching, cats are also posting that Cameron Diaz gave away the twist of the upcoming The Box, and Richard Kelly was clearly HEATED...

464413, if azrael and bane aren't in it, i'm not watching.
Posted by V3rb, Fri Jul-24-09 02:26 PM
yes, i'm that mad.
----------------------
What it is? you know, they know..
464417, Their abscense would pevent you from watching?
Posted by mrhood75, Fri Jul-24-09 02:57 PM
They were like the low-point of the Batman comics in the last 20 years. Keep them the fuck away from any Batman movie.
464499, I enjoyed the comic.
Posted by V3rb, Sat Jul-25-09 03:41 AM
sorry, didn't realize that if you posted in ptp you must automatically dislike the Azrael arc, or think Tarantino is a great director, etc etc. I think sometimes yall folks believe the more you type these things, the more true they become. Nah.

I think Nolan could pull it off impressively honestly, and it's a better idea than anything else proposed.
----------------------
What it is? you know, they know..
464533, Well, I'm honestly glad someone enjoyed the comic
Posted by mrhood75, Sat Jul-25-09 12:54 PM
Because, for me at least, it started with a good premise that was REALLY poorly executed. In my opinion, Bane was (and still is) tolerable, but Azrael is extremely dull.

Apparently I've struck a nerve. You do your thing.

464423, It must also be foil-embossed
Posted by mrhood75, Fri Jul-24-09 03:46 PM
In fact, if Batman isn't embossed in foil throughout the film, I'm walking out.

Yes, I'm mad.

464424, those are terrible ideas
Posted by BigWorm, Fri Jul-24-09 03:51 PM
Bane especially.

After years of crime fighting, Batman catches that crucial ass-whooping by a fucked up body builder on roids.

Yeah, and let's get Henry Rollins for that one. Box office hit.

No way. Get the Penguin, Cat Woman, Riddler even Mr. Freeze. Anybody but Bane.

And Azriel, there's no need. The first two Batman movies were already about the line between fighting crime and being a criminal. Introducing Azriel would just be redundant. IMO.

Personally I think Catwoman would be the best choice.
464452, Here's a good idea

Not sure her name was mentioned last go roud but since the scheduling conflict wouldn't allow her to be Black Widow, I hope Emily Blunt gets a shot at this if they do go that route.
464473, Nah. Azrael would make for a compelling story.
Posted by Orbit_Established, Fri Jul-24-09 09:31 PM

The third one has to be about Batman, and not the
villain, because we barely saw Christian Bale in TDK
except when he was invading Asian countries by himself
(what a stupid ass scene, btw)

Introducing Azrael would introduce a different conflict

Maybe have him fight and kill Azrael at the end, which would
make for very compelling drama

464498, No, it's not. Let him fight some dickhead in Pajamas.
Posted by V3rb, Sat Jul-25-09 03:38 AM
or better yet a woman in a catsuit!

maybe a fat penguin man!

Should be fun.
----------------------
What it is? you know, they know..
464531, remember that this story is about a man dressed up as a bat
Posted by BigWorm, Sat Jul-25-09 12:48 PM
464552, let's also remember that Nolan changed the tone of Batman
Posted by V3rb, Sat Jul-25-09 03:08 PM
movies.
464629, exactly
Posted by BigWorm, Sun Jul-26-09 07:44 AM
There's no reason why he couldn't take a character like The Penguin or even the Riddler and put a much darker, less campy tone to them.

464694, Yeah, and they'd still be a huge letdown relative to the Joker

No one would care.

A dark "riddler"

LOL

No one would care

They basically perfected the insane killer

TDK has to take a different angle to be compelling

it was really entertaining and a visual spectacle at imax. you make occasional good points that are offset by clearly ridiculous statements such as the aforementioned. calm down.
464697, I'm enjoying your plea cop

>it was really entertaining and a visual spectacle at imax.

Lots of things are entertaining and visual spectacles.

Doesn't mean they are good or relevant to 'The Dark Knight'

That entire sequence was retarded and out of place

>you

>ridiculous statements such as the aforementioned. calm down.

LOL

Lots of people are mad at me for pointing out that stupid
ass sequence, ruining it for them(mostly because they know I'm
RIGHT and shit

but i actually gave you props for pointing out many of the flaws in TDK in my original response. when i rewatched after you made that point last year about him invading china, by sky diving at that and than latching onto a moving plane, i almost fell out from the stupidity of it.i still like the film though

i agree with your Azreal point, but i want Depp to play the riddler in 3. Bane would be too campy
464512, I feel the same way about KGBeast and Batzarro

464463, phillip seymour hoffman as the penguin would be dope

464467, I still say Tilda Swinton as The Riddler
Posted by SoulHonky, Fri Jul-24-09 08:32 PM
Switch things up a bit.
464635, Nope! Michael Emerson as the riddler...
Posted by xbenzive, Sun Jul-26-09 08:48 AM
there's no other. Although I think your idea is interesting...
464669, i actually really agree with this point
Posted by astralblak, Sun Jul-26-09 12:58 PM
that would work
464475, Guys. The Villain has already been perfected. We need Azrael.
Posted by Orbit_Established, Fri Jul-24-09 09:35 PM

As overrated as TDK was, there cannot be a villain better
than the Joker.

Can't happen.

For them to move in the direction of *any* other *villain*
would be a huge mistake.

Make it about Azrael, a far more aggressive, more violent
version of Batman.

Have him fight and kill Azrael and introduce the following
conflict:

By killing Azrael, he actually makes the world better for
criminals, because Azrael scares the shit out of them and
has a lot of the crime game on lock

Problem, of course, with Azrael is that he doesn't really
fight crime the *right* way...he's full of pure vengeance
the way young Bruce was in 'Batman Begins'

It'd be the perfect way to cap off the trilogy by reintroducing
the philosophical conflicts about good and evil, and the price
you pay for a crimeless society

464634, actually...
Posted by xbenzive, Sun Jul-26-09 08:43 AM
I didn't read the arc, but naming the film Knightfall would be nice. Although they need to change the story drastically, I would support this. As long it's 1-2 villains and not 4-5 villains, I'm OK for having Azrael as the next villain.
464676, Actually, Azrael as a "hero" who goes too far might work
Posted by KneelB4Me, Sun Jul-26-09 01:23 PM
Batman shouldn't kill, but having Gothamites worship Azrael until he crosses the line and has to be brought in by Bats might be good.

464727, Batman's latest villians should be in this third film...
Posted by da_illest_one, Sun Jul-26-09 08:03 PM
Mr. Zsasz, Black Mask, Bane, and maybe Poison Ivy should be considered over Catwoman, The Riddler and The Penquin. I just can't see how they could fit this type of world created by Nolan and company....
