looks like I've seen this before?! can't be.
460900, im hoping the COMEDY will be as prevalent as the HORROR
Posted by SankofaII, Tue Jul-07-09 12:38 AM
in HORROR-COMEDY....

I think it will be decent...but, um, Megan Fox still can't act her way out of a gas and shit stained paper bag dangling over a lit furnace..for real.

461245, Comedy? I'm hoping for titties
Posted by JungleSouljah, Wed Jul-08-09 03:23 AM
That's the only thing that could save that mess.

Like Anne Hathaway in Havoc.
461348, HA! true...and for all of megan fox's shit talking
Posted by SankofaII, Wed Jul-08-09 03:16 PM
about people...

if she doesn't show titties/full on nudity, then she's wack as hell...

but, im betting that she is naked in the movie...
461349, you'll see her titties altho I think they have nipple silicon things on em
Posted by Ceej, Wed Jul-08-09 03:21 PM
461440, Oh those pics were for this movie?
Posted by JungleSouljah, Thu Jul-09-09 12:59 AM
That's such bullshit.
461465, unfortunetly
Posted by Ceej, Thu Jul-09-09 08:11 AM
460901, BOMB. I'm callin it now.
Posted by Frank Longo, Tue Jul-07-09 12:47 AM
If Drag Me To Hell tanked hard, how will this irony-laced combo of Mean Girls and Species make any bank? I liked the episode of Fringe that covered literally this exact same subject better than this trailer.
460905, Drag Me to Hell didn't tank hard.
Posted by SoulHonky, Tue Jul-07-09 01:23 AM
41 million is more than the budget and the most any non-Spidey Sam Raimi film has made. 40 - 50 was probably what was expected of it.

I'd assume Jennifer's Body is aiming at 70, around what I Know What You Did Last Summer and the reboot of Friday the 13th made.

I doubt it'll be as big of a bomb as Kusama's last flick, Aeon Flux.

461250, I guess for the # of ads I saw, I expected higher than $15/4th place...
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Jul-08-09 05:20 AM
...for its opening weekend. But yeah, it made its money back, and didn't tank.

But still, that one was still a straight forward horror for the most part. This irony-laced hybrid makes me raise my eyebrow though... I feel like it'll open to whoever thinks Megan Fox is hot and plummet second weekend.
461271, Why would the irony laced angle hurt it?
Posted by SoulHonky, Wed Jul-08-09 10:26 AM
That will widen it's appeal. "Scream" is the one of the biggest horror films/franchises of all-time and it seems to be a more snarky/less meta version of that.

As you said, it's Species meets Mean Girls and the Mean Girl angle is going to make it a lot more appealing, especially to women.
461650, I didn't feel the Scream irony here. It's in the delivery here.
Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Jul-09-09 10:29 PM
In Scream, the characters were self-aware, but I always felt the acting was earnest-- there's a reason those flicks are scary. Here, like in Juno, the lines seem to be delivered with quotation marks, and that "I go both ways" line is the clunkiest trailer line this summer, maybe even including "And I WANT my scalps!"

Maybe I'm just hating. I'm just unimpressed.
461680, did anyone expect juno to blow the hell up?
Posted by Iltigo, Fri Jul-10-09 07:30 AM
especially with the subject matter, super hip speak and unknown writer, young director.

i mean come on. the movie shoudl do alright just off of the diablo cody love, and the megan fox fanboyism.

50-70 mil will be fine for this joint

Might not be everyone's cup of tea but it seemed to resonate with a large audience.
466505, The Scream movies were scary?

461052, I'm w/you. Aside from the fact that DMH, didn't bomb, of course.
Posted by spades, Tue Jul-07-09 11:23 AM
There's NO way this shit makes money. You'd need a REALLY charismatic lead to pull this off, and it STILL wouldn't make money, Fox fills out a dress nicely, but so far she hasn't shown anything to make me think she can act. Ppl just don't like Horror/Comedies.

461500, RE: I'm w/you. Aside from the fact that DMH, didn't bomb, of course.

what's the difference? the first one was random and funny....yes, i guess this is "tighter", but eh...

i still think this will make money but if Cody does NOT bring the funny AND the horror...im just hoping for all her hype, she brings it.

and the Diablo speak...IS fucking annoying..she really DOES try to damn hard to be "hip" and "trendy"

Amanda Seyfried killed it though...

Megan wasn't bad...she clearly isn't a GREAT actress but this role worked to her strengths and she had some great one liners, etc.
476552, I hate Diablingo normally...
Posted by CaptNish, Sun Sep-20-09 09:27 PM
...but I thought it worked in this film. I mean, there were some fierce groaners ("tragedy boner" "front butt" and "You're just jell-o" come to mind) but I think overall, if she wants to pepper stupid movies like this with her silly speak, and not get an Oscar or praise for it... she can do it till she's all Smurfette in the from the neck up.

476396, saw it last night.
Posted by jehiza, Sat Sep-19-09 08:32 AM
loved it.
476420, so far, word is, it's terrible
Posted by BigWorm, Sat Sep-19-09 12:58 PM
The buzz is that it's just what I feared it would be: Juno, only without the top notch acting and emotional gravity needed to balance out the Johnny Wise-ass dialogue.

Which makes me think it's at a Greg Araki level of badness, only without the shocking violence or homoerotic antics.

I didn't expect it to flop this hard. I could've seen it coming in at #2 but #5? Megan Fox just came off of Transformers 2 and has been all over magazines. And they played the hell out of that trailer.

Personally, I think the trailer did the film in. Once we saw how she looked with the teeth there wasn't anymore surprise.

This is in my mind what I call a whool over the eyes film.

No matter what they say or how they dress this film up its another peice of fuct up "intertainment" that showcases sick behavior. Blood thirsty europeans. And teaching young people to be heartless and evil "bitches". An wraps it all up in a slick well produced hi gloss package.

This ruse is espically effective when you add an air of comedy to the mix.

All I could think when I saw the previws of this film was 30 days of night.

I feel like i should sue someone for making that film, after watching bits and peices of it (as that was all that i could humanly stomache), i was both sickened and horrified. An feel like its mission in being made was to steal the innocense from my eyes, and my soul. Just by watching the tasteless, peice of trash.

Didi it tell any real story that I need to watch, that actually had anything valid or realistic to say about life?
no and no

I think it is so strange, that people can be entetained by these new unnecesiarly blood thirsty films, that seem to come out 2 at a time each month. And not realize that this type of butality that these films are promoting is the same type of Brutality that was used against the Native American people.

To add insult to injury, there has not been any African American major motion pictures, aside from the New Tyler Perry film- I can Do Bad All by Myself.
Yet every month we need two new horror films.

Uhhh i think not.

This country lives on the graves of the dead Native American and African Americans that built this country, and now as our "great empire" reches its peak. We dance on there graves running to the theaters to watch films of death ad distruction.

Check you reason people. Know what you are doing be concious of what you are being shown.

476553, I went in a Diablo hater....

...but I didn't hate this movie. It's by no means great. But I enjoyed it. I think she should stick to writing films like this, to be honest.
476650, Ok, we KNEW it would be bad, all I wanna know is does she get naked?

NO.

Fox can't act, Diablo can't write.

WTF did they think we would see the movie for?
476695, I'll tell you what.... Megan pulls off *this* role.
Posted by CaptNish, Mon Sep-21-09 11:52 AM
As I said up there, if those two want to do films like this, I'd say they're better off.
476873, come on. it's a movie named after a courtney love song.
Posted by duD, Mon Sep-21-09 11:46 PM
477584, i'm in love with megan fox.
Posted by shilohnine, Fri Sep-25-09 11:09 PM
ok but really. going in, i thought this movie was just going to be all about how hot megan fox is, but i was surprised. it was much darker than i had anticipated, and i dug it. whoever was cinematographer really captured a grim mood.

megan can actually act, shockingly. i feel like no one else could have played the role of jennifer.

it wasn't the best movie ever, but it's dope for what it is. and megan is just.. so beautiful, it's scary.
