456400, A few months in, what do you think of Fallon's Late Night?

Personally, I only catch the show now and then, but almost every time lately it's been really funny. Will Ferrell. Zach Morris. Constant "All She Wants to Do is Dance" references with the American Idol winner guy. Good interactions with the audience.

Especially with Conan starting the Tonight Show, it's nice to have something that feels looser where they're not so worried about any legacy and just having fun. I think the kid's going to make it. And I couldn't stand him before.

Its young, techno savvy (if that makes sense) and funny. People will hate tho no matter what so really purple is the answer to this poll
456470, I think he is on to something

The most unfun staged and phony aspect of Letterman, Leno & Conan are the celebrity interviews. I think Fallon is on to something by melding interviews, with skits. Of course, he didn't invent it but its becoming his speciality.

His monologue still sucks and the skits are mostly corny. I only record it when there's a guest I want to see.

Night & day from his 1st show. I liked their 7th Floor West skits and all the Saved by the Bell shit.
456986, he'll NEVER not be...Jimmy Fallon.
Posted by MISTA MONOTONE, Sat Jun-13-09 12:12 PM
meaning...he'll ALWAYS sound awkward.

he'll ALWAYS flub lines.

he'll ALWAYS have bad comedic timing.

he'll ALWAYS laugh through sketches.

he'll ALWAYS jock guests with phrases like "that's SO good", "you're awesome", "i love you", etc.

BUT...he is beginning to grow more comfortable with his position, his writing staff has sharpened up a little and The Roots are still solid. the show has become easier to watch, and i like the direction that it seems to be headed in.
456987, he's fucking unwatchable.

457014, The Zach Morris thing was golden. The Roots are great. That's it.

457126, It's like all of the other shows. Typical, with some really cool shit
Posted by WaxLablTabler, Sun Jun-14-09 07:18 PM
from time to time.

(Typical in that it's network TV, and they play by certain rules)
457136, tell me about this really cool shit.

457289, why, cause the roots play?
Posted by farbod, Mon Jun-15-09 12:55 PM
i'm not giving fallon even an inch. it's outstandingly unfunny. i'm sure this show will eventually get better, and perhaps great. but apart from a few guests making things interesting, fallon is a trainwreck right now.
457386, It has nothing to do with the Roots
Posted by Call It Anything, Mon Jun-15-09 05:30 PM
It's the way they take current news stories and seamlessly infuse them into generic R&B ballads. There are always some funny lines in there. It's a cool concept and well executed.
457742, give him an inch dude
Posted by lfresh, Wed Jun-17-09 12:52 PM
cause while the roots play
that 10 percent fallon does still works
cause i'm sitting there laughin
i do literally sit there and go don't fuck it up
but it's become part of the game

457557, like it

yes some of the skits are corny and unfun but that will improve hopefully and i like that he flubs his lines and laughs. also like that he sometimes knows when a joke isnt funny and says so.

also like that he really seems to enjoy most of the guests on his show. he appears to really like what he's doing and you can see it.

i hope he doesnt become as "polished" as letterman or leno. i'm sure some of the "i cant believe i get to do this" will wear off but i hope it's not too soon.
