453260, Waking life Posted by Universadevine, Sat May-23-09 11:21 PM
Have you see it?
Do we live in a matrix?? I like how they flipped it. So far so good.
Vision- The end of a sequence of events.

453276, lol "do we live in a matrix"? Posted by araQual, Sun May-24-09 03:04 AM

453366, I was just getting started .. Posted by Universadevine, Sun May-24-09 06:54 PM
It's a pretty dope flick.
Fantastic to see some really innovative animation. hallucinogenic for sure. .. Although, it's was bit wordy at times.. the visuals make up for it. You'll see people fading in and out of existence, faces continually changing and thoughts of various individuals from different walks of life.
If you saw "before sunrise" I liked how they tied in the fate of Julie and Ethan.
Definitely, made me wonder about some of my personal lucid dreaming experiences..
Vision- The end of a sequence of events.

453369, man i STILL haven't had a lucid dream Posted by araQual, Sun May-24-09 07:05 PM
i wish i could, but it just doesn't happen. or i've had semi-lucid ones but i was never "awake" enough in them to be able to control my environment or anything crazy like that.
Julie & Ethan, their fate is decided in Before Sunset (the sequel to Before Sunrise, which im gonna assume u've seen...?) otherwise ye, was cool to see em pop up in there.
i'm kinda running on no sleep at the moment so i'm gonna catch some zzzs and be back with more lol.

453370, Oh yeah I did see before sunset. Posted by Universadevine, Sun May-24-09 07:22 PM
I didn't like the end if I recall right they didn't get back together.. creative film nonetheless
On lucid dreaming ...
You need to train your mind you are awake.
Think and focus on what you want to dream.
It takes time. I started with a dream journal to help me recall my dreams..
The more aware I became while awake, the more it transpired to my sleeping life.
Most of my dreams come true its a trip.
sweet dreams ;)
Vision- The end of a sequence of events.

453294, I hated that movie. Posted by inpulse, Sun May-24-09 10:54 AM
My friend had hyped out how good it was... but at the end of it, I just felt like it was existentialist babble for 90 minutes STRAIGHT that I would much rather have read in a good ol' fashioned book. That shit provided no entertainment whatsoever outside of the animation.

453312, the story was some ol' bull Posted by jetblack, Sun May-24-09 01:02 PM
but the vector motion graphics were awesome, dude's software is used all over now esp. those chuck schwabby ads.

453320, for the record, i loved this film Posted by araQual, Sun May-24-09 01:57 PM
watched it about 3-4 times. i think any film that uses lucid dreaming as its *entire* basis is going to get unfairly shitted on and be called pretentious. thing is, in the dream state, you got creative license to do watever the fuck u want. so i feel that particular criticism is a bit moot.

453685, I remember searching for this movie in high school.... Posted by rorschach, Wed May-27-09 11:33 AM
It's one of my favorite Linklater films. It's not quite as interesting on repeat viewings but it's still decent. I could see how some people would get frustrated by its lack of a plot though.
For me, the best part was when the guy realized that he was having problems figuring out whether or not he was still dreaming.

453983, i like it, but mainly because i love animation Posted by gwycliff, Thu May-28-09 09:49 PM
i can be easily entertained with great animation. most of the stuff they were saying was pretty elementary philosophy, but i like trying to think about my dreams that way too
