452989, The Brothers Bloom

PolarBear Toenails has me all excited about this movie, from the guy who made Brick, which I know many people here enjoyed as much as I did.

Great interview and I'm gonna try to catch the movie this weekend. :-)

455230, i thought the cons got progressively worse throughout the film

but it was still a good movie--it was pretty damn funny and interesting.
456077, Ditto. I liked the 1st half a lot & then couldn't wait for it to end.

I don't know if its a case of Rian Johnson trying too hard but I really wanted to like both this & Brick. While they both have their moments, I'm relieved by the time the credits start rolling. Kind of hard to follow or maybe I just stop caring at some point.

Good performances & cinematography tho. The Bang Bang character started off cool but got pretty corny after awhile.

And the last scene with Ruffalo is laughable considering all the stuff he went thru with Brody right before it.

Good performances by most.

But were they suggesting a bit of molestation with the DD subplot?
479571, Pretty good.

it does get tiring with the cons, but overall not bad. If you like Brick, expect it to be the same.

the beginning 30min is real fun, the bang bang character is classic, rachel wiess' performance was adorable and remarkable, but overall the film came off convoluted when it did not need to be. they made Brody's character too pensive and brooding about the "deck of cards" life handed to him and Ruffalo's character too carefree. unlike brick which compressed old school narratives and themes within contemporary settings very well, the brothers bloom seemed a bit unbalanced and lacked plot and thematic cohesion. it was shot very well, but after an hour in it just dragged on and I couldn't wait for it to be over.
481824, spoiler late pass: end of the movie exposition is fucking lame

after stephen dies, cut to credits and call it. i am not a uber-educated film head, but the image of him dying while pulling his final trick would have been exposition enough.

you didn't need the last seen with brody and weisz.

otherwise, thoroughly enjoyable.
