442415, Revenge Of The Nerds apparently is getting a remake
Posted by x_amano_x, Mon Mar-23-09 01:24 PM
god I hope that's not still happening.
442420, Awful if true, but not shocking
Posted by THRILLHOUSE, Mon Mar-23-09 01:33 PM
A while back at work we were talking about how they will remake this at sometime and somehow either Dane Cook or Ryan Reynolds would be involved.
442428, Why is it awful?
Posted by Orbit_Established, Mon Mar-23-09 02:00 PM

Nerds are something completely different than in the
80s. Kids are nerdier about different things. I'd
be very interested

442433, I don't care if the make another sequel.
Posted by THRILLHOUSE, Mon Mar-23-09 02:17 PM
Because I ignore most of the sequels anyway, just don't fuck with the original. I don't care if nerds are still easy targets, they can't top or match the original, so why try? Yes I am one of those guys that says "stop ruining my childhood" whenever an 80's remake/adaptation is brought up. Also I get plenty of nerd comedy from big bang theory that I don't need another nerd movie.
442454, jesus, it's Revenge of the Nerds not Goodfellas or Maltese Falcoln
Posted by Bombastic, Mon Mar-23-09 03:36 PM
I'm sure if done well you could maintain the 'integrity' of the original while updating it for another generation.
442508, Oh really, Bomb?
Posted by Marauder21, Mon Mar-23-09 06:51 PM
How are they going to update "hair pie" for a 2009 audience? It will be IMPOSSIBLE in this, the Scorched Earth era. IT WILL BE LOST IN TRANSLATION!

*bumps Lamar's rap*
442573, One thing about Revenge of the Nerds they must keep...
Posted by Orbit_Established, Mon Mar-23-09 10:35 PM

(and its hard for me to say this, because I was once
offended by this)

...is that the nigga has to be a homo just like Lamar

That was goddamn hilarious

We used to call any weak nigga on my block "Lamar"

I was in Pop Warner and we used to call niggas that
too

haha

LOL, could they even make the one black character flamingly gay in 2009?
442584, Good point. He'll probably be Latino.
Posted by Orbit_Established, Mon Mar-23-09 11:20 PM
>LOL, could they even make the one black character flamingly

Black homo >>> Latino homo, but that's just me, and my
homo scale is admittedly shaky, since I'm:

a) not one
b) Many of my best friends are not homos

So pardon me and my ignorance

442620, Actually there's a lot they'd have to change
Posted by Marauder21, Tue Mar-24-09 08:21 AM
In addition to Lamar, Takashi would get scaled back, and I doubt they'd be able to have them set up hidden cameras in the sorority house.

not even a remake of it... but they better not do any sort of prequel/sequel thing with it.
442432, Doc Brown's kids and Marty's kid?

DO NOT!
442427, What is with y'all being such sensitive fags about remakes?
Posted by Orbit_Established, Mon Mar-23-09 01:58 PM

When you remake it, it don't do shit to the original.

If the remake sucks, you got the original to watch
forever.

It the remake is good, it usually makes it more timely
and relevant. But even then -- you still have the original
if nostalgia is your thing.

Stop being emotional about this, y'all

i really don't think you need to worry about these
442474, A Krush Groove spin-off movie would be dope though

>>Krush Groove

>i really don't think you need to worry about these

Imagine if they did a real movie about Rick Rubin, or Russel Simmons or LL Cool J

It took Russel from 1976 - 1985 to actually go from local promoter to starting up Def Jam and releasing their first album ( Radio )

A movie strictly following him from a 18 year old promoter to the richest black man under the age of 30 in America would be really good.

A movie depicting NY the way it really was back then, with all the griminess...with all the hookers on 42nd street, with all the shoot-outs over who stepped on who's kicks (which was a BIG deal back then)

to me Krush Groove kinda bubble-gummed it back then...

it would be really dope...

442459, Dude, you're looking at remakes in the wrong way...
Posted by xbenzive, Mon Mar-23-09 03:48 PM
I've always think of remakes like remixes or covers, it doesn't take anything from the original, because the original will always be the original. A remake seem like the point of view to someone else, which I'm all for. Like comics, isn't cool to see another artist do your favorite superhero? Music, I've always been interested to see how anyone can tackle anyone's hit song. Thus why I support remakes for movies. I mean, in the end, if you don't like it, then don't like it. Can't complain at all.

EDIT: They should remake *batteries not included

442494, nah. CGI would help this one tremendously, if they found suitable actors.
Posted by will_5198, Mon Mar-23-09 05:34 PM
>The Terminator
442556, good acting > cgi
Posted by Justin_Maldonado_7, Mon Mar-23-09 09:51 PM
no amount of cgi can make a cast of:

The Rock - T-800
Jessica Simpson - Sarah Connor
Zac Efron - Kyle Reese

this cast can not work no matter how much CGI u can cook up

442587, I think Shia Labeouf would get Kyle's role
Posted by zuma1986, Mon Mar-23-09 11:25 PM
Natalie Portman get Sarah Conner's role and yeah probably the rock would get the terminator role or maybe the huge british guy from Snatch and Mean machine. Regardless og how bad it'd be there'll always be apart of me that would want to see it, even if to see how bad it is.
442582, lol, I wouldn't mind a Goonies Pt. 2
Posted by Midtown Records, Mon Mar-23-09 11:09 PM
with the original actors, aged, getting together for one last Goonie adventure. But yeah, they'll never top the original if they were to try to remake it. That's one movie that I never get tired of watching over and over and over again.
442741, I'm sure Josh Brolin would drop everything to resume the role of Brand
Posted by Bombastic, Wed Mar-25-09 04:16 AM
whether or not they could get Chunk back would be the tough part.
442869, lol at your sarcasm
Posted by Midtown Records, Wed Mar-25-09 06:07 PM
I get your point though.
442994, Chunk is in better shape than most of that cast coincidentally
Posted by Justin_Maldonado_7, Thu Mar-26-09 11:30 AM
>whether or not they could get Chunk back would be the tough
>part.
443022, they seemed to enjoy the group commentary for the DVD
Posted by MadDagoNH, Thu Mar-26-09 12:21 PM
I actually wouldn't be shocked that if they could do it right, the cast would actually be interested. I'd be there in a goddamn heartbeat, honestly.

443082, That's what I'm saying
Posted by Midtown Records, Thu Mar-26-09 06:04 PM
though I haven't seen the DVD with commentary. But just because Josh Brolin made his way to the big leagues doesn't mean he wouldn't do a film like this if it was done right.
443532, updated version with Josh Brolin and Sean Aston taking turns on the blond chick
Posted by Justin_Maldonado_7, Mon Mar-30-09 04:28 PM
i'd be the first one in line to see that one !
442621, Just One of the Guys
Posted by Melanism, Tue Mar-24-09 08:30 AM
443538, never going to happen...why? a) ain't no woman
Posted by SankofaII, Mon Mar-30-09 05:11 PM
in this country rocking titties like Joyce Hyser's (no hetero, but lots o' homo)

b) what actress can convincingly play a high school girl who can effortlessly play a tough dude also (i.e. fierce gender bending androgyny at its finest)?
who? Cate Blanchett and Tilda Swinton are too old to do it, as is Hilary Swank...
Kristen Stewart could have done it post Panic Room if they made a "Just One Of The Guys" for the tweenie set...

c) Just One Of The Guys was very daring and original...Hollywood DOESN'T DO daring and original..not these days

442669, Just One Of The Guys would be a good remake
