When he was bottoming out because of the alcohol.
I once saw the actor who played Paul at the Grocery store ( he could tell I knew who he was). I wanted to tell him he was dope in the movie, but yeah. That scene just made me feel bad, I didn't want to bring it up. So I just gave a head nod and KIM.
