I saw Chop Shop about three months ago or so, and it's proven to be one of those movies that every time I think about it my reaction to it only keeps getting stronger and stronger (in the right direction). Anyway, I finally got around to moving Man Push Cart near the top of my queue, and I figure if that one and GS can deliver like people say they do, then that's about as successful a start to any American (does dude consider himself that?) film director's career in a good while.

Right. The Produced-By-Judd-Apatow-only banner took a couple hits this past year, but as writer-director he's still 2-2 for me (and then F&G of course was a HOF-level contribution). I'm just curious how dark he plans to make Funny People.

Yeah, looking forward to it in '09, but I was under the impression that it would be considered an '08 film.

Yup. How good Peter Stone's adaptation is often goes unnoticed (Stone in general should probably be more well known).

It's finally, finally getting released?

The rest of these are exactly what I hoped this post would bring about: a bunch of stuff that wasn't even on my radar now taking up a spot. I'm on pace to see more films from 2008 than I did from 2007 (despite whatever difference in quality there might have been), and now I have a good start on what to look for in '09. Thank you, sir.
