423178, Is anyone honestly looking forward to Notorious?
Posted by Vaiops2wega, Wed Dec-24-08 09:49 PM
I'm a Biggie fan but this shit just looks horrible. Dude doesn't even look or talk like Biggie. At first I thought it was a spoof. It looks like Eddie Murphy as Norbit playing Biggie. What the fuck is wrong with Puff. He's got enough money, just let this nigga rest in peace. Unfortunately, despite it being released during what is well known as the month of garbage, I think coons will come out in droves to see this shit the way stupid bitches went to see Sex & The City, or the way said coons always come out to see the newest turd Tyler Perry shits out.
423191, ^^^ mad, Puff gets more butt than ashtrays

I think it looks good..and I'm not a fan of biggie..his music was trashy IMO.
423210, RE: or the way closet racist whiteboys flocked to 8 Mile.
Posted by Vaiops2wega, Thu Dec-25-08 01:48 AM
From what I saw in the trailer it just looks derivative and lazy, not to mention it also looks like it has the production values of an episode of Chappelle's Show.
423212, lmao u got a point on the chappelle thing.
Posted by Clark Kent, Thu Dec-25-08 02:02 AM
I think it looks like a thugged out Garden State.
423214, Well it's only THE film event of our lifetime...

Posted by da_illest_one, Thu Dec-25-08 07:20 AM
Re-enact everything he says in "Juicy"...

Posted by Nukkapedia, Thu Dec-25-08 03:25 PM
I'll see it, but I don't expect any sort of a masterpiece...
423248, Yes indeed. Plus, I want to see if Naturi's any good.
Posted by kevgalaxy, Thu Dec-25-08 03:52 PM
423292, I'm not ashamed to admit to having curiosity about it
Posted by ZooTown74, Thu Dec-25-08 11:27 PM
While GD debates such important issues as the weight requirements of Angela Bassett as Voletta Wallace, I'm just eager to see how *deep* the movie goes with Big's story, seeing as Puff's an Exec Producer on it

Also I look forward to all of the forthcoming attacks on "Hollywood" once the movie opens

423295, I was until I saw these commercials during the NBA games
Posted by Tiger Woods, Thu Dec-25-08 11:55 PM

now I'm definitely NOT seeing that, unless it's via stream on my laptop, cause best believe I'm not even downloadin that jont.

my goodness that is one terribly casted TV movie looking hot mess of a movie in the making right there. It really does look like "Get Rich or Die Trying 2"
423303, Honestly, I'm interested
Posted by seandammit, Fri Dec-26-08 12:18 AM
I mean, I'm totally aware of all the reasons why it could suck, but I've got to admit that the trailer got me interested. Will wait for reviews to decide whether or not I go to the theater for it, tho...
423308, I wouldn't pay to see...
Posted by EmceeGrayMatter, Fri Dec-26-08 01:11 AM
But I wanna see it.

I know y'all seen the biggie interviews and so on. There was more to dude than you saw even through his music. Is this shit gonna be accurate though?

meh...
423312, I don't defend him for shit but Puff aint get this made
Posted by 13Rose, Fri Dec-26-08 01:41 AM
BIG's manager Mark Pitts had this movie made. It's interesting because Mark was never into making more biggie albums after BIG passed. He wasn't even that into the "I'll Be Missing You" single. I think Mark really wanted to make a movie to showcase B.I.G's life and this is what we got. I'm gonna go to see it just because it will be a hoodfest flick. Something you gotta watch in either downtown BK or Magic Johnson theaters in Harlem.
423428, actually
Posted by EarthTone, Fri Dec-26-08 06:37 PM
its been Wayne Barrow, BIG's co-manager (and Mark's cousin) that has really seen this film through from start to finish.
423548, Puff's name is still on it
Posted by ZooTown74, Sat Dec-27-08 11:26 AM
I don't really care who shepherded the film from start to finish, all I know is his name is on it, which means that he surely had input and approval on everything from the casting to the script to the finished product

Now whether that means certain events will be omitted (and don't ask "like what," I'm just speaking in general terms), I don't know, but I'm guessing he had more input on this than some of you would like to believe...

Posted by JFrost1117, Fri Dec-26-08 11:11 AM
Similar to the one that MTV made. I don't think Big was really movie-worthy.
423343, Is it supposed to be a comedy?

423346, I've seen it. Spoiler:

Not a chance
423523, angela bassett plays voletta in the movie.
Posted by justin_scott, Sat Dec-27-08 02:00 AM
they should have just completed the moronic casting and had denzel play biggie. i mean, denzel looks as close to biggie as angela bassett does to voletta.

i already know all i need to know about biggie. anything more, there's books out.
423636, That was a compromise
Posted by Adwhizz, Sat Dec-27-08 05:24 PM
Volleta was campaigning HARD to have Halle Berry to play her.

423852, yo are you serious

423571, honestly?
Posted by JayKizzo, Sat Dec-27-08 12:54 PM
if you lived through the whole east coast west coast media fued, or you just paid attention to hip hop from 1994 until 1997, or you followed biggie as an artist, there is no point in spending money to see this movie. i remember all this shit pretty clear, so i won't be checkin this out.
423833, You can change the world Biggie Smalls!!!!!!!!
Posted by BurbKnight, Mon Dec-29-08 12:32 PM
i doubt anybody ever said that exact sentence..

BADAMN!
423956, I'm a biggie fan...
Posted by Mongo Slade, Mon Dec-29-08 05:11 PM

but did they really need to make this?

like what person who even remotely follows hip-hop music doesn't know the story?

AND from the trailer it looks mad weak.....

this will be a great bootleg DVD....
423971, what did Biggie do in his lifetime to deserve a film?
Posted by da_illest_one, Mon Dec-29-08 07:18 PM
He was just like any other dude in Brooklyn rapping on the street corner and selling drugs to support his family. He just happen to luck out. Oh yeah, and Biggie didn't have it as rough as he made it seem. His mom works for the Board of Education in NYC along with my mother and life for him wasn't nearly that rough...
423975, People were interested enough to make it.
Posted by Leamas, Mon Dec-29-08 07:34 PM
People will be interested enough to see it.

Like BIG or not, his era helped to propel hip hop further into the mainstream. That alone makes him relevent of a film.

You can shit on the quality of the movie, but not the value. A movie about a misbehaving dog just made 40 million. Why can't a rapper have a pseudo biopic.
424014, Surprised the inevitable Tupac biopic didn't happen first...
Posted by Mole, Tue Dec-30-08 02:31 AM
I consider Biggie the GOAT, but it seems like Pac has the more compelling biography and greater mystique surrounding him that would lead to this kind of movie. As people have said, we all know Biggie's story. What can be learned from watching a dramatized version of his life? Hopefully it'll at least be a complex portrait rather than a straight lionization. But with Puff executive producing...

424079, Yup...
Posted by epluribusunum, Tue Dec-30-08 12:50 PM
Biggie Smalls is the illest
424082, I couldn't be less interested.
Posted by spades, Tue Dec-30-08 12:56 PM
I wasn't a fan of his music and I DAMNED sure don't want to watch this VH1 behind the music shit.

Now my girl on the other hand...

Would rather see an Eazy E movie

or better yet, DMX biopic, from the streets to a superstar and back to a crackhead, that would be better.
424298, or as they say: "From Rags to Riches to Rags"...

won't see it in the theatres, though.....I've always viewed Biggie as a extremely negative figure that in no way deserved the martyrdom he got.

"The What" was my shit, tho...
