And that's the problem. His self-indulgence oozes from every crack and crevice of the movies he makes. And that is why he is so hate-able. His self-indulgence has a negative impact on his movies. If you're going to let your ego seeps into your movies, at least do it the way Tom Cruise does.

I've seen all of one Costner role where that didn't happen, Jake in Silverado, and that's because, love him or hate him, Lawrence Kasdan knows how to write and direct characters and he runs a tight ship.
