the Max Payne hate has simmered a bit but i'm still a little bit weary about it. I just want them to do the story justice.

I agree it's the easiest game to adapt. They just need to not fuck it up.

This makes me nervous. I was hoping for just a kick ass cop seeking vengeance movie but this dungeons and dragons stuff has me wondering if they didn't screw it up.

Unless they're showing dream sequences in the trailer, but that would be weird as well.

Oh well, an angry Wahlberg and some explosions will probably be enough for two hours of moderate fun.

Hopefully it's just a dream sequence or a drug induced thing. Although, that's a pretty misleading trailer if it's just a dream sequence.

and from i can tell, this doesnt follow the story in any of the games despite the background on Max with his family being murdered.

so in that regard, im disappointed, yet visually, it looks very good and im still amped to see it.

but it looks like they did make some of their own personal spin on the whole dream sequence thing.

I remember the heavy snow and that red billboard from the game. Seemed they got the tone down perfectly.

The angel/demons are rumored to be hallucinations of that drug the dealers were pushing in the game Valkyr(apparently in the voiceovers they said you see valkeries on it). Funny enough tho, they looked cool enough that off the trailer alone I wouldn't mind if they made it MaxPayne=Constantine Edition, lol.

But very cool looking movie, id be interested even if I didn't know anything about the game.

I just saw the trailer five minutes ago and they said PG-13. That's Strike 2 for me. I'm starting to think that this is not going to be as good as I hoped.

Wahlberg almost eclipses his ridiculous performance in The Happening. Honestly, maybe he did because at least that was funny to watch.

Some of the early locations look like the video game and the new Bond girl is sexy as fuck in her small role but other than that this movie is horrible.

The Valkyries are hallucinations people have when on the drug. The movie isn't anything like Constantine with actual angels and demons. That being said, it's still stupid and adds nothing to the film.

They had a simple and effective revenge noir and fucked it up so they could add some more interesting CGI is basically what happened.

it wasnt THAT bad, but the Valkyries were completely unnecessary.

still, when the game is praised for an excellent story, its frustrating that Hollywood NEVER does a straight adaptation, and instead thinks they can make a better story using the same characters (and never succeeds)

cos ppl still go to see and pay MONEY for this shyte.

but all this talk about it having little to nothin to do with the game is devastating.

his movie was horrible, i never played the game, the movie started off decent, your like ok this guy is out for revenge, they should of just dealt with that, i too wonder why Luda was cast, and thinking "did this guy spend anytime with actual detectives?"

they should revist this franchise, make a it a prequel and focus on him hunting down the wife's killer, that was far more interesting then this drug dealer/pharma consipracy.

I've never played the game, but the trailer looked so cool to me it makes me want to see it.

I played the game and it's a basic revenge story so I thought they couldn't fuck it up that bad. I was hoping for one of those trashy action movies that are entertaining but that critics don't usually like.

Instead the film is just horrible. Basic story points are botched. The action scenes were laughable. Just watching someone play the game would be more interesting. Take away Olga Kurylenko's small role in the beginning and it's unwatchable.

I went in not expecting much and thinking at best it would be Four Brothers and at worst it would be Shooter but ended up sitting through the worst film of the year.

If you haven't played the game, it's still a bad movie.

Unless you like every action film simply because guns are fired, there are pretty girls, and people utter emotionless lines every other scene, you probably won't like it.

At best, it's a rental although I wouldn't even recommend renting it.

Did anyone see First Sunday or Untraceable? I did not but I am quite sure MP, is better than them.

MP has a good premise but lacked really good action scenes (like wanted) but it was O.K. Yeah it could have been better but worst film of 2008, Naw.

Hitman turned into some action shoot 'em up (where the original game actually rewards you for choosing silent methods over guns), Max Payne was just a humorless pseudo-horror shitfest that had nothing to do with the game.
